Its just a number like pink its just a color.
All is in head.
Only a clumsy and stupid people would take a number in name as a part of something special.
Why not name the phone with something totaly unique.
Like for example LG Raichu, or Charizard.
Or LG M.O.P.I.H. Which stands for Most Advanced Phone In History :-)

If LG is to thrive as a serious cellphone manufacturer they have to improve their quality control. I've had a number of their phones, the last being the LG V20. I had to return two of them for various problems before I struck gold with the 3rd one, which turned out to be a good, problem-free daily driver. The thing with LG is their phones look great on paper but it's in the real world execution that they fall short of the mark. Case in point: the V30 was touted as having the one of the best cameras because of the wider aperture but it struggles with clarity in anything less than ideal shooting conditions. This along with the absence of all the features that the V20 had is what made me choose a Note 8 when it came time to upgrade.

First of all LG "Lucky Goldstar" is a ugly brand name. It is very much associated with Chinese.

TheLostWanderer, 03 Jan 2018LG simply sucks at naming. V20/V30 - that looks like a nam... moreThat's nothing compared to Xiaomi's phones. For the number 4 alone - There's the Xiaomi Redmi 4, Xiaomi Redmi 4A, Xiaomi Redmi 4 prime, Xiaomi Redmi 4x, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4x Snapdragon, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4x Mediatek, Xiaomi Mi Note 4 (not yet released, likely successor of the Xiaomi Mi Note 3). Only diehard Xiaomi owners know the difference among those 4-numbered models models.

Makes sense. G6 was such a failure in both conception and actual practive that they have to distance themselves from that.
I repeat (because most website didn't even try to underline the following):
G6 was actually a worse phone than its predecessor.
Bigger in size despite being less wide (bigger side bezels in a year that bezels were getting smaller)
Far smaller battery (non removable meaning continuously losing charge without a thing you can do about it)
Far higher charge time (battery swapping had you at 100% in 30 secs, how about 90 kinutes for a change)
Same ram/soc (basically)
Worse camera (weird post proxessing, going from top of the crop w G5 to a forgetable experience of G6).
I have to ask how is this conpany around even. Never before did a flagship lost so much in a single gen. Maybe s6 (compared to s5), but it at least had camera quality and speed over s5... This one , nothing significant, it is like it was designed by a comitee...

LG simply sucks at naming.
V20/V30 - that looks like a name for engine to me.
G4/G5/G6 - that reminds on internet network, or signal (3G, 4G)
I can't imagine their next name, LTE10? Or maybe 80TDI?
Putting 2 digits in it's name looks like inferiority complex to me, and by changing name, they want to escape from reality that their devices so far weren't so popular.

But why? Just to match the V series? I think it's not a good idea. People know the G series, G2, G3, G4, G5, G6. What's wrong with G7? The same HTC did, and for no good.

Simple go with the year of launch. LG G18
- M
- Maybe because no 845
- pvS
- 03 Jan 2018
Maybe LG is changing its naming scheme because not all of the variants of the upcoming model would have the flagship SoC - 845, so some would have to settle for 835.
And maybe there would be a "plus" size model - that was refered to in the Chinese leak regarding 2018 845 models - G7 but also G7+

I used to think that LG could never get quality right then I thought "These products seem really nice on paper. Could LG be better now ? " and then I read about countless issues affecting a wide range of LG products.
See you in 10 years, LG. Maybe.
