Snapdragon 670 performance will split the difference between the 660 and the 845

This mid-range chip is rumored to use the same Kryo cores as the flagship Snapdragon.

many of the chips are not in use any more so they need need new ones to replace them. Those in the high range from SD800 up. Now there should be more mid-range and upper mid-range chipsets for us. You know those able to buy the mid-range phones are more than those buying the highest range phones.

    Please bro, you have to understand. Qualcomm produce chipset for hundreds of mobile companies and the companies need varieties of chipset to power their phones. However there many models phone companies produce. When they use the same chipset for different or many models we complain we want some thing new. So Qualcomm is on the right path but we need all the coming chip to contain more and be power efficient.

            Those could the virtually the same processors with disabled features. Some qualify for better performance, more cores, more cache, while others do not so they are reprogrammed and downgraded to cheaper ones: faulty cache and cores disabled etc. other thing could be the smaller processors occupy less space on the wafer, so there would be more of those produced from the wafer of the same size. With fully automated processes it should be quite easy to change the masks, cutting, welding etc. etc.

              I personally still don't quite understand the need for so many SOC chips.. I think having at most 1-2 great SOCs that can be mass produced on the cheap for everyone and works as good as what iPhones have.. maybe this will help with android's fragmentation issue

Xiaomi Max series is not a phone per se, more of phablet which is somewhere between a phone and tablet but then again we can't be talking of just 1 brand and 1 product for balance as per your view. We need entry level SD62x/SD63x phones, mid range SD66x or SD67x and finally flagship SD8xx but sadly, this is not true so far. Hopefully 2018 brings something better!

                  Oh, and by the way to see how things stack up and progress we need to observe them from afar objectively throughout the decade.

                  It's easiest to track the historical upgrade for the high-end chipsets on a year-by-year basis in the Android Ecosystem. The low-end segment is much harder as some devices offer much better value overall despite using worse soc's, so it muddies the water. And the mid-range chipsets are definitely the hardest because there is a crossing of the low-end and the previous years' flagship chipsets that come into play. I'll try to stick to a single OEM so that comparisons are more unified/less distortion by differences in the Skinned OS.

                    There's really no such thing as a "Bad Product" only a "Bad Price". If they priced the new QSD 845 at $100 I would say its Bad, or at least Bad Value. And while I generally am Bear-ish on the overused QSD 625 chipset, especially in phones sold Unlocked for $300, I would say its Great Value if it was almost free and could be had on phones selling for $50. It's literally a game of trade-offs. The same idea applies to cars, an old Hyundai i30 isn't a great car... but if someone was selling it to me for $1,000 I'd definitely get that over say a brand new Honda Civic which sells for at least x30 more.

                          Ofcourse there is hard to make direct comparisons, but all socs in list startin 640 and above has 73, or 75 based fast cores and all below that has a53-a55 cores aka midrange cores.
                          So that makes some difference in what gategory each socs belong. But even that is not easy because gpu varies a lot among those snapdragons...

                                  Mid-range is the right term and you can even say upper mid-range, but lower high-end is a term you definitely made up yourself

                                  Ontopic: S670 will not use the same kryo cores according to the previous leak, hope this will give the much needed performance boost through the android mid-range.

                                    Flagship AP of Qualcomm, like SD820 or SD835 generally costs around $70. The Snapdragon 670 should be priced about 2/3 of flagship, around $43. So mean price of phone with SD670 AP should be around $400-500 USD like OPPO R11. I guess that SD670 will not be so popular as its predecessor SD660 was not so popular. It was adopted by only 10 phone models. I expect that SD640 will be much more popular than SD670. SD640 will be true successor of very successful SD625.
