Nokia's first WP7 phone reportedly lacks any innovation

One thing I can obviously say is that this device will be either noticeable larger, smaller or the same size as the N9 due to the additional hardware keys taking up real estate. Now with the hardware keys, if they decide to make it the same size, then the screen will have to be shrunk and if they want the screen to be the same size, the device is going to have to be noticeably larger.

The problem lies in another sphere. Google Maps mainly covers developed countries. Google works very poor with emerging markets in almost everything - from robbing pricing policy on android market to very poor mapping coverage.

Windowsphone 7 and MeeGo to the high end.(You can pick what you like more). Symbian to the mid and low range. The new upcoming Symbian Belle should have some big improvements over the just arrived Symbian Anna.

What many casual users don't understand, Android is a basic operating system. I have several Android phones and there is really nothing spectacular about them. Don't get me wrong, Android is a fun OS, but WP7 is a great, in my opinion. The only advantage Android has over WP7 is the hardware that it is delivered on. If MS wise up and let hardware companies get creative with the OS, WP7 will surpass Android in a few quick years. MS needs to split the OS into different segments: Personal User and Business User, not everyone is going to use Sharpoint, Excel, or any of the other Office products that comes pre-packaged.

Nokia is really a very good company. I also used to be its biggest fan till the time its competitors started rolling out their devices with different and innovative user interface. Now Nokia is far behind as compared to other companies. Their symbian operating system is now old fashioned and needs lots and lots of changings in it. So best of luck Nokia for your Windows operating system... and beware of Android and IOS!!!!

it would be great if they make all the apps free as for android and ios as noone will choose their phone for the "capabilities" it has if they have to pay for each and every single thing, even at low prices...it has great look, great performance but the wp7 wont succeed with any phone, especially nokia if phone users have to pay for any of the apps.even if microsoft pays millions for this in a long term nokia will loose money and users as to the pricy os.other than that-great look,i really like it :D

:), 20 Jul 2011Don't we all want speed and freedom? Let me ask something..... moreWhat Nokia is providing, through Symbian, MeeGo & now WP7 are OS's that are not completely made up of stolen IP and code. These OS's will actually exist, unlike the inifite forking etc Android will endure when Oracle, Apple and others are done with Google.

That is THE best argument against android. Your investment will disappear.

Obviously, looking at the N9, one company (Nokia) completely destroyed any semblance Android had of a UI. Swipe UI is so far beyond anything on Android UI and design wise, it is not funny anymore.

I had comments deleted for protesting against foam-mouthed fanboys yet others who write stuff like "plz don't buy [brand x]!" have their gibberish online for all to see. I understand that GSMarena probably has better things to do but the content of comments is way, way, out of hand.

Lets not be biased here. I did not discriminate Nokia in any way. Its just amusing to see a recently founded mobile company such as HTC make it to the top so easily. I have to agree that most HTC's phone are similar, but never identical. But remember, if it wasn't for HTC Windows wouldn't be where it is now. And now that Windows gave full authority to a slowly phasing out company rather than focusing a rapidly improving company (HTC). If Nokia had such a great and stable OS they wouldn't have more than one OS. They have no idea what they are trying to achieve.

                                      [deleted post]@ Laurynas :)

i clearly know, i repeat i clearly know the ARM cortex a9 architecture is the same in raw form, but what u clearly and bluntly said is that sgs2 and lg optimus 2x have the same cpu which i disagree with, if u have said sgs2 and optimus 2x have the same cpu in raw form before being modified by samsung and nvidia and are the same at the point of purchase from ARM then i would agree !! So u were not clear with ur question, this is not like this laptop has i7 and another laptop has i7 its not the same example, in phones its different.

If so why didnt LG buy the cpu from ARM themselves why did they buy it from nvidia ? Wen u buy the cpu in raw form it has to be programmed and thats what each of samsung and nvidia did thats why they have different names, because each one claimed his own work and modification and thats why my friend they are different !

Your question was wrong ! And u took my answer for a different question, u clearly FAIL in understanding how things work in the phone department, and u still didnt tell me what sudo stands for which clearly shows that ur no programmer.

And i was sleeping thats why my reply took a while. Im interested in what u will say next, seriously.
