Haha, welcome ... to the past.

An active biometric in the age of passive biometrics. After using an iPhone X for a few days you can't go back to this childishness...

So if the fingerprint reader stops working we need to change the display ! I m sure apple will be eager to implement this

Now thats awesome, but I'm not a fan of vivo.

They'd probably make more money selling the component.

yes Sony has it but it makes the side bezels considerably bigger, since the trend now is bezel-less display, the only logical solutions are having the sensor at the back, or under the screen

Kiyasuriin, 09 Jan 2018Underscreen. the best option. Not reach to my expectation coz still need to tab at specific location/place. Mostly people expect it should place under the whole screen which user can tab finger print anywhere on screen.

I don't quite understand why side finger print sensors aren't tried out first before this more expensive solution? Sony can do it and it is out of the way and on the front. This underscreen sensor surely has to be in a specific section of the screen in order to be used? A bottom bezel maybe?

And maybe OnePlus' too as vivo is under the same parent company as OnePlus. They maybe have it first but i don't think it will be really good. At least not to apple/samsung standard.

Smart move for Vivo. being the first to test so others will know how to use it properly!

Another thing is if they can stay as true to usability as to looks. Apple and Samsung went for looks.

AnonD-88005, 09 Jan 2018Who would have tell that Vivo would be the first to achieve... moreSamsung is sensible enough to implement this technology when the time is appropriate. They are not in hurry and that is how it should really be. Being "first" always isn't everything. It is about who implements it better in speed, reliability and extra feature-packed.
Samsung showcased their foldable-screen technology a long time back but they did not hurry in actually implementing this and mould it into a smartphone.

Samsung is still a leading smartphone manufacturing company while VIVO is not.
You see the amount of hype when today VIVO unveiled it? It is not even close to 100%.
Wanna see the hype when Samsung implements the same technology in their smartphone? Wait for it. ;)

Hope gsmarena does a review or atleast a hands on

Unreliable(for at least another 7000 people) face id, FP on back like everybody, not functioning on side(even probably dead) and under screen. What would you choose?

Innovation coming from overpriced chinese brand lol cant believe it now its time other copy it and make it better thanks vivo for beta testing
