Some corporations need to understand that making a fair profit and continuing to exist long-term is better stability. Then trying to constantly expand market share without any innovation to invest in leads to massive financial blunders.

Good decision. LG V30 Plus disappointed me. Flagship phone and 5 MP front camera. what a joke.

When co.pet... moreYou know, if HTC, Sony & LG is out of business that mean less competition for other manufacturer and more monopolized market by them. They can do whatever they want, sell whatever price they want and we have no choice because there are no other manufacturers to speak for you anymore. Think before you wish them dead. There is a big picture you not seeing here.

Well less frequent releases of same phones and increased quality or lower price would be welcome changes for LG. If they release series G phones or series V phones little bit latter than competition but better once than competition, I completely agree it would be more sensible, but they need to nail it right, if they release later but not going to offer nothing outstanding against competition or cheaper, they will be doomed to leave mobile business

Vegetaholic, 13 Jan 2018Biggest nonsense heard from CEO in a long time. When co.pet... moreI can sort of agree but if they are producing phone after phone that is just falling behind then what is the point in carrying on with a failing strategy? I agree it's quite a difficult and concerning idea because they could lose customers who are able to just change to other brands with more relevant and frequent releases that have all the new features but we will have to see how they plan to play it. Maybe they are going to make better phones that keep making money for them as they just concentrate and discount a few instead of pushing out loss leaders but equally they could risk the brand becoming irrelevant and less reliable for frequent upgraders.

Biggest nonsense heard from CEO in a long time. When co.petition will release new and more appealing devices LG will wait for revelation :DDD how this dude even got a job?? Competition is so fierce in smartphone market that not realising on time as rivals will make you loose your business and its up to consumer choice when he want to replace phone, not up to Company, when it's decide it's needed, what an idiotic explanation and reason to do it :D well at least we know who will be third company to be out of smarthpone business after Sony and HTC it will be LG :))))

Better news would be
"Lg won't flaunt a feature that supposedly makes people buy their phones and proceed to remove it on the next model."

Finally it hits them, just like it did with HTC. Coming out with endless amount of models this was expected.
They need to concentrate on flagship and low end. No one buys a mid-range Lg not in Europe or Asia. Waste of time and resources to try mimic Samsung and cater for all, Samsung are way bigger and can afford to do so.

I am intrigued by his comment about "Lithium Supplies".... Auto industry is geatting geared up for electric vehicles.
They will now be targeting lithium due to push for electric vehicles.
The recent electric concepts have literally run rings around Oil-based counterparts....
And believe me, if the auto industry takes it up seriously, we might have lithium supply issues....
But I haven't heard much about lithium shortage till date... So, this LG VP, is he correct to worry?
