As long as I can get 64gb of storage on a Sony phone with a newer lower bezel design with an OLED screen and dual speakers then yeah, that sounds like it'd be a really attractive phone. I don't care about digital assistants (which is about the only major feature I can think of it missing) but the bezels on current sony phones was the only thing holding me back, reviews on their higher end are really good so when they improve it'll definitely be my next upgrade. Then just pray for a good battery.

AnonD-719565, 14 Jan 2018Always too late So if Sony is too late with OLED, then all others are also too late except Samsung? In that case, Samsung is too late with cell phones because they weren't the first; Motorola was.

Sony makes 4k oled TBs, i don't see why it can not produce oled display for phones right now. I mean maybe oled panels are lg or samsung but they sell it to everyone. Anyway, good thing sony wants to produce its own oled panel.

This means only one thing - they will now offer some models with 2:1 OLED displays just to be present in the market. That's all it means. They will still use 16:9 LCDs as well and their 4K screen will be on the next XZ Premium successor however they decide to call it.

Sony R&D is too small that's why they use Motions-eye, Qnovo, LDAC, DSEE HX, 4K HDR..... . It's really shame for those mentioned massive R&D are totally garbage, while only a small R&D like Sony is pretty good.

we already know what happened to the pixel phone when google decided to use oled for the first time.
                                yes. "Burnin".
Only samsung have capability to use oled proprely.
so i expect to see the same burnin problem happen to the upcoming xperia oled phone.
keep in mind sony have lower r&d budget compared to google samsung and apple.

Slow Sony, 13 Jan 2018And when would Sony implement an under-screen fingerprint-r... moreTo be frank, only Vivo has the proper patent to use it. I'm suspecting only the Note 9 will use it, but there's really nothing wrong with backside fingerprint readers. Heck they're even faster than screen-embedded ones.
Not implementing it doesn't mean they lag behind. It's not a bad thing if they only want to ensure that what they're going to do is good and will have no problems when the mass community starts using it.

For that, nobody said Samsung was lagging behind when they released a waterproof smartphone a year after Sony has released one. And is anyone saying that Samsung and others are lagging behind to Sony for not having a 4K HDR screen?
I could already say it, but then I would just get bashed and considered as a troll or hater.

Karim Adham , 14 Jan 2018Sony has to do more effort on Batteries, their phones would... moreThey could deliver fantastic battery life with just 2700mAh like on the Xperia XZ1.
XA1 Plus with 3430mAh battery has one of the highest battery endurance ratings in GSMArena. They're not even using OLED.
If they put 4000mAh batteries inside their phones, the weight would be unbearable, and maybe the thickness, too.
Besides, it's not always about the capacity. Huawei Mate 10 Pro has 4000mAh battery yet has inferior battery life to the Galaxy Note 8 with larger & higher resolution screen and smaller battery, with a software that has inferior battery optimization (Oreo has superior battery management to Nougat).
