Btw, It depends not only on Xiaomi. Processor manufacturers simply do not provide the Sources to develop an OS for a particular processor.

MIUI n + 1 not equal Android n+1.

But one thing is for sure: security patches are updated with MIUI updates. A Xiaomi phone with older Android Marshmallow on MIUI 9 will have an updated security patch for December 2017. You can't say the same of Samsung's lower end to midrange offerings. Xiaomi treats its customers way much better than Samsung in terms of timely security updates despite the phone's low cost. In Samsung world, entry level and some midrange phones don't get any update or get only one and that's it. Not so with Xiaomi where even 2 year old phones still get security updates even if the Android version remains the same. It is what is more important really, not the Android version. A Nougat Samsung device with August 2017 security patch is much worse from a security standpoint than a Xiaomi with marshmallow but December 2017 security patch.

Oh! And when are they going to update the Android system instead of only the MIUI UI/Skin? They only update MIUI and let people believe that they are updating the Android version telling that MIUI is based on X Android. Stop fooling customers!
Apps not compatible with older versions of Android will not run anyway even if you have the last MIUI.

This is china ROM. China is main market for Xiaomi. India no have global ROM is ok since u all will still buy it anyway. Tq 4 supporting Mi 😉
