17 January 2018
The oldest among them are from 2012, now that's what we call long-term support.

Great to know. But the bigger question is: When? No dates given mean just a blank cheque. Xiaomi can paint a nice picture anyhow they wish to but in reality, my Note 3 still not receiving any updates.

Also, reading the sentence "Admittedly, MIUI 9 is based on Android 7.0 Nougat (or older), but it is heavily customized." give me chills..... Inadvertently, I doubt we will be receiving any security updates at all.

I'd expected it's already done, my redmi 4X got 7.1.2 (9.1) late of November, MI6 and Redmi Note 4x even sooner. Maybe the older ones are just about.

Luxor, 17 Jan 2018How do you expect me to believe this news when the listed p... moreWow you are dense... reading and comprehension not your forte is it? "Anyway, here is the full list (some of those are already updated, others are waiting)" Note the part where is says "some of those are ALREADY updated". What does this mean you ask? It implies that some of the devices listed have, in the past, been updated to MIUI 9 already. "But Wydrfell!" you cry; "the Redmi 5 series is already on android 7.1.2!" Yes but this article is about the update to MIUI 9 (HINT: read the damn title) which is based on Nougat 7.0, NOT about updating all the devices to 7.1.2, but that doesn't mean there cannot be a version of MIUI 9 that is on 7.1.2. So since the Redmi 5 series is already on MIUI 9 it qualifies to be on the list that lists devices ALREADY updated to MIUI 9 (as per the intended topic of this article; refer back to title). The title you hoping for is "Xiaomi will update 40 devices to a 7.1.2 based MIUI. Also What if i told you, that the Xiaomi Mi A1 has a counter part with the exact same specs that was created exclusively for China. What if I told you, that this Mi 5X runs MIUI and not stock android for obvious reasons. What if i told you that the device you claim to be the Mi A1 is LABELED on the list as the Mi 5X. And I guess if you want to be nitpicky, yes it does show the device running stock android, but that's only because the page for Mi 5X only exists as an entry in the Mi A1 page of this site. Please actually read the articles, only looking at the colourful pictures doesn't respect the effort taken to write these articles. Only thing that seems to be fake are those eyes of yours.

Xiaomi, better give MiPad 7.9 higher Android version instead! What a great hardware wasted because of an old Android... Nvidia Tegra stuck on Android 4. What a shame...

How do you expect me to believe this news when the listed phone that would be upgraded to MIUI9 already have Nougat. Hello, that Redmi 5 series are already on android 7.1.2. Btw, isnt that Mi A1 I see there. Oh, wow! Even a stock android xiaomi phone gonna get this MIUI9. Even better, it supposed to get Oreo update but suddenly downgraded to Nougat based MIUI9. You are really something, Xiaomi. So much fakeness over here.

I am redmi 4 prime user. Miui 9 update only change the number of 8 to 9 and only change the skins. The security patch, android version, bug fixes, ohh geez... They didn't even update or fix 'em.

MIUI is an UI with extra features not an Android system. So receive MIUI doesn't mean that your device will be updated to Nougat. In fact it'll not in the majority of them with older system.

And looking to the future if Xiaomi adopt Project Treble in their next devices with MIUI 10, there will be big break and breach between MIUI 9 and MIUI 10. Perhaps, that's the reason of these masive update, because it's last one for almost all them. But we'll see along the year.

Well this is why I stuck to Xiaomi as much as possible... I only choose for myself this year OnePlus 5, next to mi mi 5 , because Xiaomi dropped from mi 6 the headphone jack... But otherwise I had upgraded my mum to a note 4 and wife to a 5splus from Xiaomi and they are very satisfied with the phones, battery life, and apps. Thanks Xiaomi! I hope you'll consider making the mi7 with a 3.5 mm jack.

Any 5 year old device getting nougat is a major win, it's 1 years old only. Name any other manufacturer apart from Apple that has that old devices on the previous update from latest. Non.
