Anonym, 21 Jan 2018One word: bezels.
They can do everything in one package... moreWhat a strange example. Samsung didn't sacrifice anything - they never had stereo speakers on their flagship galaxys to begin width. Like most flagship phones, coincidentally...

Sorry Paul, you use Beats and talk about audio. Hmm, do you know how much it takes to buy a decent Bluetooth headphones let alone a better one. And if you try to get one on par with great wired headphones, goodluck. I don't mind USB C but the inconvenience of not having dedicated audio port is too much. Companies should spend more on R&D to improve Bluetooth headphones sound quality rather keep selling crap and milking general people.

Looking at the results, only 17% are in favor of without a headphone jack. No surprise.
If "courage" was the thing Apple reasoned removing the headphone jack, then why is it still on Macs?
Think about it.

Removing headphone jack is like removing pockets from jeans / trousers for women designed by stupid humans.
It is non-sense! period.

outdated ?? im sorry yes its old but its still best and far more popular
also first guy says it gives companies more space and options for a lot more design changes and yet we keep seeing same phones over and over again
removing it is good on theory but not in practise and they only do it for profit
just to remind you only 5years ago we had phones with jacks,ir ports, hdmi and even projectors now oems just think what to remove not to add and use same old design with few hardware upgrades which are not relevant anymore

Removing 3.5 mm is stupid choice for short term, but in long run like 10 or 30 years, it is inevitable and wise choice. We don't have modern digital audio interface. RCA/3.5 mm etc are analog. S/PDIF is old unintelligent interface. HDMI is bulky and primary video. So we need wired, thin, modern, digital, smart audio/control interface between non-video equipments. Audio over USB Type-C suits well for such purpose. Once wired digital earphone/headphone become ubiquitous and cheaper, no one will miss the old 3.5 mm earphone.

The point is that some people spend big money into audio, in-ear monitors alone may cost more than a grand. Those are not likely to dump their gear.

2portsplease, 21 Jan 2018Radio frequencies are harmless, especially in the low amoun... moreRadio frequencies are harmless to us because they largely don't interfere with solid matter, nor are they ionizing. There's been libraries worth of research done on radio frequencies. Go read about it.
And you can absolutely see cancer. Not sure what school you went too, but you should look up operated tumours and tumour imaging techniques on Google.

Yordan all the way. He is completely right, some nice Apple scheme to lock you in with accessories ecosystem, same was done with, lightning ports and other BS apple like you to experience and loose your hard earn money for nothing. 3.5mm gives you freedom to listen music with best quality available which is as usual analog WIRED. I have been supporting Samsung almost 5 years and looks like, will be supporting for many more years for making right decisions, keeping 3.5mm where it's suppose to be, in your phone

Apple logic : " Let's take features OFF (SD Card slot, Infra-Red, FM Radio, Removable Battery, 3.5mm jack) > call it innovation (for dummies) > offer mostly nothing in return (extremely restricted os) > make it shiny (again, for dummies) > sell it for a LOT of cash > make them by a TON of accessories and apps for it = It works!
The rest: copy/paste on the Double!
With very few exceptions (Samsung, Sony, LG).
Who's to blame? The very greedy brand or the very dummy buyer?
Tricky question? :D

For me as a paying customer, the solution is easy. I stopped buying from brands who stopped using the ports i most used (the 3.5mm jack and the USB A port in laptop) so my current phone is Htc M8 and i have a macbook pro late 2013. If both go bust tomorrow for some reason, i'm pretty sure my next phone and laptop notebook won't be branded htc nor apple.
No headset jack = No buy.

PLEASE, just stop talking about "digital" and "analog" audio if you know nothing about it. "Dedicated DAC" in the headphones as opposed to the shitty software-dac in the SoC? (hint: there is also a dedicated dac in the SoC, so why would you want to buy another one?).
If the "quality" of the internal DAC is not good enough (which it will be for 99.9% of all people) you still have the option to get an external one even with a headphone jack in place.
Waterproof? Because nobody ever heard of a material that can galvanically connect two points while not allowing water to pass, you know like METAL?
And you know what else gives manufacturers flexibility in laying out the phone internals? Getting rid of the screen for example. And what the hell is wrong with the way phones are laid out now?
STOP parroting these pseudo-technical arguments, it's pathetic.
Indisputable facts:
- A DAC is necessary for music listening, why is it intrinsically better if the DAC is in the headphones instead of the SoC?
- Making a 3.5mm headphone jack waterproof is not rocket surgery.
- You always have the option of connecting bluetooth or USB-headphones even if a headphone jack is present, yet very few people do so, which means arguing for "new technology" in favor over the old shit is just rationalizing to suit your point of view.
But for what it's worth I'd be completely willing to accept changes in connectivity as long as it doesn't mean just plain removing features.
Give me 2 USB-C-ports for example, or a new simple, smaller analog audio interface...

What's next?
I guess removing power button and volume buttons.
And yeah let me make a wild guess, the crappiest company will bring that in market and then all other companies will follow the trend. And blind followers will be fine with it.

For all I care replace it, but with something better.
Do we have something better than 3,5 jack? Something as reliable, as universal?
Nope ... so move on.
When there will be real jack alternative, than we can have this conversation.

Why not remove the screen, thats the problem. they are too big. Why don't they add more physical buttons. We need atleast "Call" and "End Call". Seriously, we do we need 6" screens.
Why not just also remove the back camera, since most people now are self-obsessed. One "selfie " camera so our idiots can glorify themselves all day. See a tragic accident - selfie, attend a funeral -- selfie, own house on fire -- selfie.
