Big CPU cores, check. HDR+ capable ISP, check. UFS, check. What else?

I'm really curious. Why does ARM processors always come in big.LITTLE configuration to serve low and high performance usages? x86(and x64) processors usually using turbo-boost approach (1.1GHz base with 2.2GHz boost or something, within the same cores). Does this approach less efficient compared to big.LITTLE in term of energy usage?

    What I don't understand are people who get hard ons on synthetic gaming benchmarks scores when those don't really showcase real-world usages. Like who cares if your graphics chip is doing 300+ fps on a racing game when in reality, your phone screen is locked on 60 hz (sans the razor phone).

      Why big.LITTLE when DynamIQ exist

        This is why I referred to "the chipset vendor and OEM". Between them, responsibility lies.

        This article predates Project Treble, but I believe Treble won't magically resolve security problems with proprietary drivers; it will simply allow new Android versions to sit on top of an unrevised Build Support Package.

        The article apportions blame to both the chipset vendor and OEMs.

          Single-core performance is key for a great chipset, and to have a good UX (User Experience).

              Bigger cores, OS should be optimized well like IOS, exllecent GPU and excellent cooling system these are most important factors of excellent chipset.

                How about actual support from the chipset vendor and OEM to update the Build Support Package to patch driver issues and vulnerabilities - AFTER THE CUSTOMER HAS BOUGHT THE DEVICE?

                This should be mandated by the legal system, because society is threatened by reliance on insecure systems.

                  Most probably on middle range segment.
                  The GeekBench bracket still within 3000 - 4000 score.
                  The chipset maker did not going to reduce the price because they know how to play the rebadge game.

                    What makes a great Chipset, the poll should be composed with following combinations and not just one feature.

                    Example you had big.LITTLE Soc but it is built in older 28nm which isn't great.

                    Another, you had 10nm process but the CPUs are weaker again that isn't great.

                      That's really hard to answer or pick one or more.
                      It's not really chipset you are buying, you buy a complete package, where can be some problems mitigated or solved like Google did with the external chipset for the HDR, having a bigger battery, heat pipes for better cooling, faster storage etc.

                      My pick would be energy efficiency and raw power, maybe high frame rate video capture, BUT that highly depends on used camera and mics.
                      I couldn't care less for a special biometric chip, AI accelerator, fastest charging (even Quick Charge 2.0 is bloody quick).

                      LTE band support comes as a no-brainer for all users I bet.

                          4x4 MIMO antenna + clever engineering and smart design + maximum OPTIMIZATION and SYNCHRONIZATION of all components + total fusion between the hardware (SoC)and the software

                            Funny how they want us to vote, when all of the factors on top are important to what makes a good chipset

                              Well, the result is suprisingly equal vote to most of it. I guess nobody knows what makes a great chipset. Everything in the list is equally important.

But, apart from mind's control on smart phones! the great option is mind's creation! One moment, SoC does received your brain's waves and does translated (encoding by brain decoding by SoC) to programming language, outcomes: apps, movies, games or you memorial! Outstanding :)

                                        Where is so many factors for great chipset, but obviously you can take examples from Apple A series. We need big dies with powerful single and multi core performance and insanely beastly gpus with few lower power cores to not waste energy for low end tasks. No more than 10nm manufacturing process to keep efficiency and cooling intact. Obviously some tricky battery chargi g technics are welcome too. Anything else is irrelevant and gimmicky, chipsets has enough power to record high frames on any possible resolution you need so it is not really important, and please don't waste energy and resources on AI BS, you can't make any decent neuron calculations on tiny chipset, leave it for servers and use space to make more powerful cpus/gpus
