Anonymous, 23 Jan 2018Sigh kids.. Samsung started doing slowmo video since Omnia HD.. Samsung Omnia from 2009 started using slow speed video recording. Sony only copied this idea.

I think 1080p@480fps is going to be awesome, even if it is for 1 second.
I would like if Samsung could work on this way :-

          1. Have more choices than just 1080p@480, bring a 720p equivalent and a 1440p equivalent too. A 4k@ 48/60fps would be cool (with sound, not a slow motion vid, but for smoother video).
          2. Try to NOT have deep menus for this slow mo shooting. Integrate it in normal video mode, so it's usable with just 1 click...
For example, if 1080p@480 is only for limited duration, integrate it as a "button", which is usable while we record in 1080p@30/60.
          3. Have a capable video editor which can further slow down or speed up any video. Suppose 480 fps proves too slow for me, so I should be able to speed it up within phone.

I'm considering this S9 seriously for long term...

AnonD-310963, 22 Jan 2018Actually when you have that ability you understand when to ... moreNew flagship phones come up with this sort of crap just so they can fool naive users into upgrading their previous year's phones because of some groundbreaking useful new feature. Well sorry Samsung, Sony Xperia XZ premium with 960 fps super slow mo already used this lame feature/sales talk last year. The truth is, super slow mo is a novelty that rapidly fades and goes out of style with no serious use except maybe for budding filmmakers. Even then, filmmakers will find it lame and crippled because if you know photography, the faster the shutter speed, the lesser the light that can enter the camera's sensor and the darker the footage. This is compensated by automatically increasing the ISO sensitivity to horrendous levels (4 stops minimum) where horrid noise destroys an otherwise good filmaking. Good for shooting super slow mo videos outside in bright noon sun, but horrendously crappy indoors or elsewhere with excessive noise or excessive blurring or softness that is akin to youtube playback in 144p. Forget ever using this feature to capture available light footage of kids blowing off their birthday cake candles. Unless you put a huge spotlight on their faces, all you're going to get is garbage.

When you capture a flying bee or butterfly 480fps slow motion not enough to show the motion clearly, while the super slow motion 960fps is giving the best results. More example like a bullet train cross the shutter, the 480fps slow motion just a little better than 120pfs slow motion, but the deepest impressions should be 960fps. How about use the stacked Dram camera sensor to do Perdictive Capture? Why Samsung doesn't show it?
