AnonD-39937, 22 Jan 2018Dear, "Anonymous", your math is bad: HD/720p = 0.9MP Full... moreQHD is exactly 4x HD, and UHD is exactly 9x HD. Not disagreeing with you man, just had to point that out.

[deleted post]They probably set it to just 720p because in 1080p, the amount of time might be even shorter. Or maybe not. Maybe it's just the SoC that is just not that powerful enough to do the job. Maybe with Exynos 9810, this sensor will allow a continuous 1000fps 1080p Slow Motion video.
Instead of actually fighting against each other, I want Samsung and Sony to work together to bring us an amazing overall device. Processing power from Samsung and Imaging power from Sony would bring a monster to the table in 2018, not even the iPhone X would be able to shine a bit.

Anonymous, 22 Jan 2018SD845 cant beyond 4K@60.
So they have to keep Exynos 4K@6... moreI think you are not considering both the sides.
HD = 720p
Full HD = 1080p ( 1.5*1.5 x HD)
QHD = 1440p ( 2.0*2.0 x HD)
UHD= 2160p ( 3*3 x HD)

HD/720p = 0.9MP
Full HD/1080p = 2MP (about 2 x HD)
QHD/1440p = 3.7MP ( about 4 x HD)

AnonD-672395, 22 Jan 2018The sheer pedigree of fools here is guiness book worthy.
... more"1080p @ 480fps is WAY MORE impressive than 720p @ 960fps"
why do you think it's more impressive at all? 720p is about 1MP... 1080p is about 2MP... 1x960 is about the same with 2x480...neither of them are that usable in real life and neither will record more than a fraction of a second

but why? what can a normal person do with "1080p@480fps" videos? (except brag about their new phone, because that's stupid)

The Sony does like 960fps @ 720p or Less for like 0.18 seconds. Plus your ability to get that right is VERY SLIM.
1080p @ 480fps is WAY MORE impressive than 720p @ 960fps. And WAYYYY more usable.

Glass body... moreIt's too late bro. Almost all brand are in the hype death trap thanks to Apple and Windows.
Now the poor Sony who gets bullied by haters, is now being forced into the death zone to commit suicide. Only Nokia and blackberry is still really refusing.

This industry is so ridiculous... For better photos we need larger sensors and better lenses. Just like years ago in some Nokia phones, even Samsung had a Galaxy Zoom. Nowadays they produce every year the same devices with no real progress, but even higher prices and lack of updates.

Sensor inside S7 is not same of S8. They have same specs but newer sensors bring better output, better processing and performance.
Pixel 2016 had a 1/2.3" + 1,55 micron.
Pixel 2017 uses 1/2.6" + 1.4 micron
Htc 10 has 16MP.
Htc 11 uses same sensor of Zenfone 3 Zoom. 12.2MP, 1/2.55, 1.4 micron.

We cant forget that 4k@30 is enough to increase temperature of phone. 4k@120 would turn a phone into ashes.
It will probably short too. Just like Sony's
