Or it is a simple miss translation, as even the Lumia 920 had 5? Glass lenses? Then they started putting 6 in for improved clarity on later models? Rather than having a spinny dial to change "lenses".

I disagree with Nokia Concept phone with such camera setup, the 808 ,1020 , and N95 had single cameras with very good sensors, the pixel 2 also had a single camera which topped DXOmark list.
we need a big thick sensor Nokia and HMD global.
Go for Toshiba huge sensor deerest Nokia and you wan't regret that dicision,
Sony sensors are not that good, and Sony made best IMX sensors exclusive to their flagships like IMX 400, thats the main reason to go for Toshiba sensors

Anyone remember Pelican? Nokia made an investment in Pelican Imaging long time ago. Pelican Imaging created its first array camera for smartphones in 2011. There was a rumour back then that a new Lumia might come with an array camera from Pelican Imaging comprising a setup of many lenses, thankfully it never happened because Microsoft was never serious about committing to the smartphone industry and Windows Smartphone OS was predestined to die. This render might be it or related to the OZO VR camera. I'm excited to see the Nokia show at MWC.

Even if an OEM decides to puts 10 cameras on a phone and if it delivers stellar quality images surpassing the image quality offered by current generation of flagships like Pixel 2, S8, Note 8, iPhone X etc then it makes sense and is certainly not gimmicky. Phones like Nokia N8 & Nokia 808 PureView were thicker than current day flagships because of the excellent cameras they offered during their times, packing huge sensor size for smartphone standards, mechanical shutters, Xenon Flash etc. Nokia was ahead of time back then.. I would prioritize excellent camera quality within a reasonable thickeness of 15mm on a smartphone. PureView on the Nokia 808 was an excellent technology by smartly utilizing the 41 MP Camera to achieve lossless digital zooming in 3 MP, 5 MP & 8 MP Modes which was only possible with optical zooming. This render actually seems like something related to the OZO VR Camera but if this comes out true offering significant improvement in image quality compared to the competition then Nokia has a winner after a long, really long time. Right now, let's take this rumour with a pinch of salt. I just hope Nokia invests in developing their own version of Android with Nokia Suite of applications. Not everyone's a fan of Stock Android, at least not me.

I wanted a phone with 23MP but pixels of 1.5 micron.
But the sensor would be way bigger.
At least 25% bigger than imx300( XA2) , currently the biggest available.
So what if someone brings two cameras of 12MP/1.5 micron that work together to shoot 24MP? They would work together to make one image, just like out eyes..

Just because its Nokia which reborn like a phoenix from ashes it doesnt means it cant have a much better and greater device than any of its competitors.

If they can make such a thing like they did it with 808 back in 2012, then thed will be awesome!
I agree that 1/1.2” lenses found in 808 would make the phone thicker.
With current chipset (808 was a single core 1.3Ghz!!), 5 cameras arent something impossible.
In fact, if 5 cameras setup could achieve such quality in the importance of thinness. This would be another innovation, made by Nokia.
