This should read "QC is "proprietary", even though there is NO royalty paid, "
QC is superior as in QC 3.0/QC4.0 compared to USB CP, but since USB is a "Standard", that is why Google is pushing for it.
Now, since Qualcomm(TM) is on the board of USB, it doesn't really make sense, but anyway.

Anonymous, 24 Jan 2018Sammy don't have capability put higher QC on Exynos, and ha... moreHahahahaha, roflmao! Thank you for the laugh, but yeah, they have to keep it fair, for their Exynos users, since it would mean.... oh bugger it!
They can update their charger to QC3.0 or QC4.0, the only difference and complaint then, would be that one phone can charge faster than the other.
There is NO TECHNICAL ISSUE STOPPING THEM BUNDINLING A QC3.0/QC4.0 charger, except price, and REVIEW SITES!
QC Chargers can charge ANY QC Phone! Period, the end.
The ONLY DIFFERENCE, is the speed.
Also, there is one more bigger issue that is about to come about, and that is GOOGLE and USB Standards!
QC will soon be dead in about a years time!
Is it superior to USB Charging Protocol? Yes,
Why will it be phased out? Because of Google and USB Standards, QC is "proprietary", even though there is royalty payed, Google has issued an ultimatum per-se for USB Charging Protocols to be used. It is similar to QC2.0 but not compatible.

DangerousDroid, 24 Jan 2018You guys have to understand that Samsung won't use QC3 or 4... moreLOL, thank you for laugh! I laughed so hard!
Wow, you must REALLY KNOW what you are talking about, right?!
Well, let me burst your bubble, umm, educate yourself!
If EXYNOS Uses QC2.0, it CAN USE QC3.0 or QC4.0 chargers, as they will fall back to the QC2.0 standard and charge it at QC2.0 Specs.

Just the same way that QC3.0 /QC4.0 Phones will fall back to QC2.0 standards, if that is the only charger available, and if your charger is a plain run of the mill 5V 500mA/1A/1.5/2.0/2.5A charger, they will just charge at whatever the cable can deliver, since if you have a great cable, the cable loss will be small, so they can charge at 5V/2A but if the voltage drops, then they adjust their charge current appropriately.

Now, you were saying?... Yeah, thought so...

ZloiYuri, 24 Jan 2018Lol. Peopke like you are always into stupid marketing. Watt... moreFinally, someone that knows what charging is all about!
I have been making my own battery charging modules from start to finish, i.e. design, prototype, assemble and then test.
It is amazing what people will believe!
The main reason that QC was done, besides "Quick charge", is due to all the shonky cables being sold! Due to the cheapness and thin wires used, most would just melt or catch on fire if 5V/2A or 5V/2.5A was to be pushed through them, and then, your house or office catches on fire or melt the usb cable... not to mention, that instead of 5V, you can get many times 4.7 volts or even on occasions a little less for longer cheaper nasty cables!
That is why when you use QC3.0 at times instead of 9V, you can get 9.2V or instead of 12V, you can get 12.1 or 12.2V, so it can compensate for the degradation of the cable!
Then inside the phone, it converts it back to 5V for running and 4.2V or 4.4V for dependant on battery for charging, and they charge at 2C - or more, instead of 1C that is the norm for Li-Ion/ Li-Poly batteries. But yeah, let them all just parrot like parrots without knowing what is really going on with chargers.

As for the others, complaining about the charger, geez! Get a life! Crawl back to where you came from.
Let me just say this, DO YOUR RESEARCH: SAMSUNG CAN PUT A QC4.0 CHARGER! They just are cheap on it!
Riddle me this: If you have a QC2.0 capable Phone, you can use a QC3.0 or QC4.0 charger, If you have a QC3.0 / QC4.0 Phone and a QC2.0 charger, it will still charge, just slightly slower, but faster than a 5V/2A charger, and of course, you can use a QC3.0 charger with a QC3.0 phone and a QC4.0 charger with a QC4.0 phone. Exynos is QC2.0 capable... as many of you posters have mentioned, so SAMSUNG CAN USE a QC4\3.0 or even a QC4.0 charger...
So since they are inter-changeable, i.e. they can all work with each another, why does Samsung still use the same charger? Hint, it has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH EXYNOS!

You guys have to understand that Samsung won't use QC3 or 4 in their flagships as long as they will be using 2 soc . I mean if they use qc2 on their exynos phones they will use the same crap in SD powered ones .

By example Samsung S7 battery degraded very fast because of overheating of the soc of the phone itself.

Battery manages to degrade significantly within a year anyway.
maybe this is a good balance between durability and charge time.
