And this is what my phone has:

wooty, 01 Feb 2018Is HMD sells phones costlier than Sony's? If they can draw ... moreHMD phones are built by Foxconn.
It is cheaper than having own facilities. ( Reason they built iphones too).
Xperia are not made in China.
If their flagship have same camera of E5 and L1, you can see how cheap they are..

The Z5 and earlier are not all immune to Spectre and Meltdown but are unlikely to be attacked very successfully as their baseline cores are A53 or earlier, which aren't affected. (The Z5 is 4 A53 and 4 A57, so designing an exploit to suit is probably more than it's worth for a fairly low volume phone. The new LX series use 630s which are all-A53 and don't need patching. But the 820, 821, 835 all need it and the 650 has two A72 cores - a popular core so there may well be exploits.
tl;dr if you have a Z5 or earlier, and don't sideload apps, probably not worth worrying too much.
Meanwhile give the 845 a skip and wait till the next generation, whose performance won't need to be slowed by patches.

Sony's statement is well and good. But I find it worrisome, that Telia in Estonia (part of TeliaSonera group, Estonias largest telco) has pretty much seized the sale of Sony phones?! (selling the stock, obviously, but won't be getting any new ones in either)
Will there be a Sony Mobile to manage updates in 2 years?

AnonD-731491, 01 Feb 2018Xamxunf Does the Ridiculous, February 1 S8, note8 and s8 + ... moreThis article is talking about Meltdown and Spectre, are you stupid?
And Samsung's S6/Note 5 got patched, so why Sony doesn't patch their Z3+ and Z5/Compact/Premium?
They did the same thing to my Z3 which is still stucked on May 2016 security update.
Maybe Samsung is slow to update OS version, but Sony sucks in security updates for older models.

I've viewed hundreds of videos on YouTube relevant to Sammy's laggyness from those grumbled patrons out there but none of it were officially substantiated. Look at Note 5 for example... did you notice if there is any straggle of it? Yawn.....
