You see advertisement of S8, N8 and A8 on tv here. No Xperia nor LG.
You go to any store there are all Samsung phones, just couple models from other brands.
Samsung does their work to keep sales well, the others dont try enough to do better.

Software costs money, Samsung sells more than 300 million units. They can afford that.

LG superfan, 01 Feb 2018Cyanogen gives security patches?Cyanogen is now dead, replaced by Lineage... and Lineage only ensures the updates to the Android framework, not the Kernel (or device specific blobs) -- those are under the responsibility of the maintainer.
You can see the status of any device in cve.lineageos.org
But beware! Things aren't that pretty as of now....

I don't have the phone with me right now but I'll have a look at it when I'm home.
Anyway, the Android Security Patch Level on my device is months old.

After reading this, I would strongly affirm that only fo0ls would still throw their support to this company. Not to mention Google itself, look at Samsung and Nokia; they are consistently releasing security patches even to entry level smartphones nowadays (even those devices had reached EOL). And the best part Sony's price isn't cheaper than their competitors.

Mine has received every available update since launch in February 2017.

According to Sony Mobile, "Availability [security and software] timings will vary depending on model and region." Flash your phone to a different region to receive software and security updates more frequently.
