    Who will lead Sony mobile division?

      Surficial, 02 Feb 2018Very true about the advertising in the US, not in Western E... moreWell, in my case, I'm from Argentina (in South America) and apart from a couple of banners on the web from the Sony store or a bunch of ads in the tube (subway) I've never seen in Buenos Aires a strong marketing campaign on radio, TV, newspapers, high-ways or any place to reach the whole population... the strange thing is that this regards only to the mobile branch of Sony, not the Imaging part for example and instead (sadly) Samsung is this-and-that... everywhere!

      It's like an important, unique minority, one of which you are proud of and brag about, but slowly fading off, you know?

      But he is not to blame for that I guess... it could be region dependant or strictly carrier-based agreements - With his "One Sony" policy he became one of the best CEO's Sony has ever had IMHO... this is bad news.

      Some people here don't give a cr*p about hardware, history, the finesse of the materials or even where do they come from! They just want something trendy, something popular... and cheap

      Wish I'd be in Japan, drooling at their premium and most advanced tech and bundles, even the customer support and aftersale warranty, the simply are the first and only ones to get the best! Lol :p

      ========================================

      Regarding the side-fingerprint over US models, we all know it's firmware disabled to avoid revenues, paying off some bad deals with US carriers, a penalty or God knows what... I don't have a clue -

      But, strategically speaking, they don't seem to show a lot of enthusiasm in some regions or to leave a good impression inside the market in spite of it being so vast and "aggressive" - They lack something, like all they can achieve seems effortless... the US is an exclusive market and they can't afford the luxury of losing it

      Unfortunately, from my POV, I see them throwing to the portfolio a great phone from time to time and include or announce a good news/policy... but then, heck... they are losing more and more market share, are being outperformed not only by Samsung or Apple in the top tier's, but also from kinda' new chinese brands on mid-range level... they listen to the customer... now... yes, but acknowledge the problems later and in some cases the solution is delayed a lot (i.e. distortion camera issue in latest IMX400 sensor because of the wide angle FOV and their goddamn buggy, old and inaccurate image processing algorythm) -

      While cutting funds to develop (or even maintain at least) new software improvements or a brand new UI experience... they continue to quit over apps of their own which were prior even to Google's (i.e. TrackID, myXperia, etc.) so the "duplicate app's of the stock UI" does not count here

                  Anonymous, 02 Feb 2018no he can't. only western/chinese/korean leader can help s... more1 - WTF?!! Seriously though, are you high on something? If you're trying to smoke somd weed, at least do the truth weed, not the lie weed like you've used. Chinese or other countries can never lead Sony. Japanese people are intelligent enough to surpass them anytime if they are interested to do so. Who discovered the first self-healing glass again? Yes, they are Japanese researchers.

                  2 - It's not considered slow if they don't follow immediately. Samsung immediately followed Apple by removing the SD Card slot on their Galaxy S6 series/Note 5, we know how it turned out and returned it on the Galaxy S7 series/Note 7.

They have a dual screen phone, years before Samsung introduces it.They introduced water-resistance to phones before those copy-cats followed. And robo dogs? Bullet trains? Led screens from 1996?

                              The only division in Sony which sucks is mobile obviously. No design changes in years and last to implement latest trends and tech. So let's see if new guy will change Mobile division from ground, cause they really badly need one

                                I beg all your pardon; VAIO was sold due to what... the whole batteries' thing after 2013 or because of the financial struggles? - Apart from that, I believe he did pretty well... The new CEO replacing Kazuo Hirai should prove himself by bringing back Vaio and Making Sony Mobile Division Great Again.

                                  Then we are confident on him to change the technology world to face incoming next Great Shift of technology.

                                  18:9 screen on Sony phones not solving the problem, nit a greater remedy, but the problem would be "how Sony Ericsson era past visions should teach a current Sony Mobile, and how the latter learn a lessons of their successful formula".
