Hi,updated my Orange branded HTC desire ,no issues with sms or mms,it does however remove all of Orange apps ,browser, maps etc which in a way is good leaves more memory free.I can't at moment see much change to the handset same sense UI and performance wise feels and looks the same .

htc desire owner, 02 Aug 2011It means you lose your warranty after installation, that is... moreAt least they're making it available for us Desire users? If you don't like the idea, don't update. It's not a difficult concept. You have to intentionally go far out of your own way to apply it, so in doing so it's expected you know what you're doing. Hence the update is only for 'experts'.

Good job HTC, no problems at all. Battery life has increased by 10%, the notification settings & Sense UI are the same. That's the only disappointment.

Well... installed the Gingerbread 2.3.3 update and tbh, it a very minor improvement over FroYo 2.2 I had before. There's no issue with SMS/MMS. Can confirm that battery life has improved a lot (+10 hours)and finally, the bluetooth headset works as it should (it was a know "bug" within FroYo).The Sense UI is the same as it was on FroYo so no big deal... And also, this is the last and final update...

Venkatesh, 02 Aug 2011I dont understand what they are warning the users about. On... moreIt means you lose your warranty after installation, that is how crappy this update released by HTC is.
Question is who is more happy with that, HTC or you?
If any goes wrong with your phone now you get no support or warranty, thats a relieve for HTC and problem for you.
So who is the expert now, you?
