-. -, 10 Feb 2018It's not discrimination by any mean, 3 major update for fla... moreCome on dude, it is completely silly to reserve software updates only to midrangers or flaghships. People are so brainwashed by Apple's non-sense, they accept things that would be unacceptable 10 years ago before Apple's arrival.
A hardware should receive updates as long as it is capable, just like Windows on x86/x64 systems. Windows can run on an Intel Pentium 4 of 2001, an expensive AMD Threadripper or Core i9 of 2000€, or a cheap AMD APU or Intel Atom of 10 bucks, as long as it is x86.
Phones - no smartphones should be the same, no discrimination about how expensive you bought it.
In 2005 when smartphones where a niche device with Symbian and Windows Mobile, nobody would have accept such thing of OEMs limiting software update, especially if the phone is capable.

great because the s6 still is awesome, it holds its own right up there with the best of them, high pixel camera, beast gpu and cpu, beautiful screen that still has the highest ppi count compared to even the s7 and s8, minus the camera bump, it is also still the thinnest of them/thinner than s7 s8, battery and expendable storage is probably the only draw back it has but both have yet to bother me...but yea love the design, still has capacitive and physical button which i love over touch, plus front finger print scanner, i have yet to need to or care to upgrade, it always gets the lastest software and its getting oreo, what more does one need

This sounds pretty nice. S6 is still a capable device, one of my friends still owns one and it still feels premium and fast enough. Only downside is battery, but that's kinda old story with S6. But yeah, this might be a game changer for updates. Maybe there will be three major updates for higher end devices and atleast two for midrangers? Who knows, I guess that we will see. It is the time to get that atleast, everyone is improving mostly hardware, but slow software updates and lack of them is the real big problem for Android right now. It will be interesting to see what will happen next, for sure.

And Vanilla is the way Android is supposed to be used, regardless of how bare bones it is? I smell Jobs resurrected. Albeit a very Job-less one. xD

I would rather have a late but stable update rather than a buggy but fast update anytime. Just because some manufacturers release Oreo sooner, doesn't necessarily mean they're better.
