I don't understand why some people mention Kirin when talking about flagship SoCs. Kirin is at the same level as Mediatek.

AnonD-730256, 12 Feb 2018Yeah Android always been 2yrs behind but those days are goi... moreThat only started in 2015 (Apple had nothing close to Exynos 5433 for example) and the distance is getting bigger.
Apple is posting yearly 40% gains in performance, Qualcomm does 30% that one year and people rejoice (meanwhile the distance got even bigger).
It's ridiculous I say. Stop pandering to Qualcomm she has kept Android back post 2015...

Anonymous, 13 Feb 2018Exynos is worse than Snapdragon, because it doesn't support... moreSomething most people don't consider. Also I agree with the post about emulating on smartphone CPU.
Most people astonished about Android or iOS game's graphics I am sure they didn't even see what games looked like on handheld consoles.
The average at best graphics on Android games is due to low memory of the devices (an old PSP had 4GB of space for a game whereas Android games don't excess 400mb I'd say) and due to the Android developers focusing on money instead of quality.

Anonymous, 13 Feb 2018Something most people don't consider. Also I agree with the... moreYou talking absolute nonsense. Psp had roughly 1.8gb space in its UMD disc and games was roughly around 1gb with some reaching close to it's 1.8gb limits. Ps vita uncharted golden abyss is 3.49gb size, largest borderline 2 with all DLC 5.5gb size. Yes android usually does not pass 2gb limit and are usually casuals games no hardcore oriented.

Tech-9, 12 Feb 2018Really no sense for that much horsepower when android apps ... moreYou shouldn't play Android games. The games dedicated for mobile are crap (there are a few exceptions like GTA). The new games are crap anyway (for example they have infinite health: health regeneration, in-app purchases, freemium, internet requirement ...).
The purpose of high CPU and GPU performance in phones is that you can play PPSSPP and DosBox (Windows x86) emulator games on mobile at a reasonable fps.

AnonD-696746, 12 Feb 2018Samsung optimization of the snapdragon is a joke. this ... moreYou are very wrong, and you haven't got a clue. Only some OEM's have managed slightly better performance than Samsung running the SD 835, but it's much less than 5%. Maybe you aren't very good at maths. The difference is in fact partly due to the fact that the SD 835 in the S8 and Note 8 runs at a lower clock speed than on other devices. You can even check the specs pages on this site, you'll notice that the 835 on the S8 has a max clock speed of 2.35 GHz, but on other devices it's 2.45 GHz.
