Snapdragon 845 benchmarks show an incredible GPU, faster CPU

12 February 2018
The processor performance gains are incremental, but on the GPU side the only current competition is Apple.

AnonD-696124, 12 Feb 2018quite frankly, i'm happy with my oneplus 5T's SD835 sure, ... moreIn another words don't upgrade the damm phone every year. Just do it every 2 or 3 years and you'll see bigger improvements and more satisfaction.

waiting for exynos benchmark, if it's fall behind sd845, I won't buy s9

Really no sense for that much horsepower when android apps are weird and very few are made for high end phones.... Most of ppl run FB whatsapp and few medium graphics games... As s8 owner i got fast bored with bad android games.. S8 is more than enough. Dont forget the 845 price

SD 845 always had best gpu on android in cpu they are behind exynos and kirin

          INVISIBLE MONOPOLY & RIDICULOUS PATENTS
Apple, for example: locked fps in Sony's smartphone
          Google, for example: Samsung's bada..

            Par for the course.

By the way? Is there an app that is decently-optimized, at least 30% of ALL Android users use, uses over 75% of a flagship SoC like this, and needs over 4GBs of RAM?

I bet prices for handsets with this type of SoC shall be on par... ;)

Really, don't understand larger than FHD+ resolution on mobile screens and such processing power.

... though the manufacturers have to sell their products.

AI, 12 Feb 2018Still games and apps are better optimised for iOS. No matte... moreI am a developer in a company that excels in optimisation and squishing bugs for apps. and trust me. it's not exactly easy to stand the pace of 1.5billion apps in half a year or so. it's crazy. and we're just ONE amoung thousands of companies that all they do is optimisation.

(40% increase in single core is plausible, but a whopping DOUBLE SCORE? I'll have to see that in order to believe.) however. doubling the MULTICORE score is making sense imo.

Anonymous, 12 Feb 2018How about snapdragon 1000 probably be next gen Running ... moreWon't be happening. Qualcomm made four segments (until they run out of numbers that is XD) 200s which is entry level.
400s is the lower midrange or
                      600s is the premium midrange
and 800s is the flagship. I don't think qualcomm will add another series.

sure, the sd845 is faster but it's marginal compared to the 835. Not worth a upgrade.
The snapdragon 855, if done with the architecture 8/7nm that will be worth it.

@dladz don't count on the spec sheet alone. OIS for example, back in the day I had it on the M7 and I was outraged by what gsmarena had to say : https://www.gsmarena.com/apple_iphone_5s-review-994p8.php

Unfortunately I was then able to pit it against the 5s myself, and the non-OIS Apple device has literally mopped the floor with my M7 :(
