I answered t... moreOh, I see, you're just looking to troll, completely ignoring the part where I explain how your claim is false. Either you can have a straight bezel across the entire sensor area (ie. conventional screen), or you have pixels where packaging allows (ie. extra screen). The sensors have to go somewhere, so you can have either some extra pixels, or only bezel.
Video and apps need not extend into the horns, contrary to what Apple decided to do. That area can be reserved for hotkeys (ex. vol. up & down, page scroll buttons), etc. Feel free to completely ignore these facts and again restate your plainly flawed position...

Google is just adding feature in android P which OEMs can use if they want to go with Notch ... this means Google will probably handle the notification bar icons differently so that some space is allocated to notch if it were present ... God whats wrong with all these guys commenting here

Wow...may as well just buy an iphone 🙄 this is ridiculous.
Seems like the industry plays follow the leader too much.
All the companies make the best hardware inventions and then Apple 'reinvents' each as a new innovation.
Leading to flocking millions to buy 3 year old hardware designs with next years price and backward ideas like notch screen holes and bumper cases so you can 'hold' the phone correctly.
Maybe next software update Apple with 'invent' something to identify callers, similar to what old-school landlines have had for over 20 years.
AOSP is where it's at, maybe Google should take a bit more from Android Open Source Project instead of Apple's playbook.

It's just google offering a better software solution for them, no big deal. Notches are totally not going to be the norm because they are not required.
Samsung already achieves a higher screen-to-body ratio than the iPhone X without having to use the notch. Also, as this all-screen trend progresses and technology improves, notches probably won't even be a thing any more by next year.
Google's a software provider, they have to support all kinds of approaches in their releases, that doesn't mean they will embrace it for their phones or recommend it

LOL you guys misunderstand what Google is trying to say.. It is not that future Android will all have notches.. Google only said that Android P will be more compatible and support notched screen if the oem wants to make it.. And NO it is not because of the notch on iPhone X.. You think only the iPhone X has the notch?? It is supposed to address the notch issue on Essential phone and the upcoming Mi Mix 2s.. Notches =/= Apple get yourself educated seriously LOL

Why on earth can't it be a complete beezle instead of a stupid notch? The iPhone X is dropdead gorgeous killed by the ugly notch. And Google trying to lure Apple users? For what? The original iPhones are better than the wannabe iPhone 2.0s made by Google; a cripple with a golden walking stick being concerned.
