Intentionally omitting basic functions has an important function: to psychologically establish dominant brand (who demands and sets the rules, not the one who listens and adapts to existing ones) and to make alibi for itself.
I other words, it's easier to proclaim those interventions intentional and give alibi for all other eventual lack-of-features, than trying to be absolutely perfect in every aspect and then fail in it.

If Apple should rely on their technical features, they would be long gone. Instead, they formed a cloud of seduction wich has no direct connection with technicalities, only desires, self-image, egos and hype.

Enjoy your short reign Apple. Nokia will be back and become the largest smartphone maker once again when they release their WP devices. It will be a historical and triumphant return for Nokia and they will never look back anymore. Nokia will be back to take the US market by storm.

            That's my fearless forecast.

Yet Samsung is the number 1 phone manufacturer. Apple wins only because people bu the Iphone because they are told to and it's the only phone they produce.

PERFECT????????????????????????????????????????????????? Could not be farther from it. It's an ok or midrange product, minus the 4 finaly being kinda caught up, that is unjustly advertised as the best. Also produced by tyrants and is one of the biggest symbols of conforming. The Iphone itself I have to I say I like better then Apple and needs a Jobs, but again it's just GOOD. It's only coming up to the release of their fifth phone and they are only catching up to technology....?????? What's wrong with this picture? Companies like Samsung who are the biggest phone manufacturer make better, more innovative, and more advanced phones along side the hundreds of others. Explain this please. 0.0

As and Android user who had an iphone 4 but got bored, and the actually reason was it was to perfect. what Apple has the other companies cant seem to get their heads around is they have mind share. What other company can make people que for an handset?

like them or loathe them they have something. to sell 20 million phones in a quarter bearing in mind that most people are buying the iphone 4 and some are buying 3Gs is actually mind blowing.

I really think its time for people on this website to be able to see the good in a product no matter who makes it. every week people have to keep puting up vile comments its ok to have passion about a maker of a product but its bad form if you cant note that a product is good and has done well.

Well iPhone is like RIM, is for people that don't compare a phone by measure speed, pixels, camera, processor and more...those argues are just for geeks, people that like iPhone (and RIM) likes the way It is, no need to prove nothing to anybody, not need to win an speed race, not need more than the phone itself.

Personally I don't care if my phone "walk by itself" or make "coffe at the morning" I need my phone working in good order and reliable, iPhone can be anything you want...but I don't care restrictions if the iOS is stable and without problems....for me iPhone works well, no problems at all...and much of the problems can be solved with Jailbreak and some apps, not big deal...

but that's my point of view.

Apple do a well done job with their phones (and entire line up) is the mos desired gadget in the world, everyone wants an Apple product, iPhone, iPod, iPad, iMac, etc...

Cheers to Apple that knows what are they doing, Sorry about the trolls around but their fav Manufacurer will need to wait more longer to throw Apples crown, let's see people reaction with iPhone 5, but it will be HUGE!!

Arhkmed, 05 Aug 2011":-D I'm fully enmeshed in it. Ever since he invented ... morewell who said iphone is innovative ? apple always said mac was innovative or said ipad but apple never said iphone was "innovation"

they always tell iphone "re-invented the phone" , which exactly means iphone created a new style of phones which is true because right now everyone follows iphone's style , like applications store , main preference for "apps" , multi-touch , big-screen , UI etc etc android UI same as iOS in contacts , music etc etc

only that case i agree that , iPhone really changed the phone market especially smart-phone market and many magazines and newspapers , websites also agreed with this .

i love user-experience of apple products , for example i buy an iphone , next thing i know is next iphone will be better than the iphone which i currently have , until here its ok , change comes from this part .

if i bought a phone from samsung or mototrola i don't have guarantee that their future phones support the stuff i buy today (apps , music etc etc) but future generations of iphones support all content which i have today because everything is integrated into eco-system , just like android , where my galaxy S apps works on tablets too .

3 years back omnia was launched and if i had bought that , then none of those apps or stuff works because these manufactures jump from one OS to other OS , apple does not do that .

samsung = windows and then android (windows may come in future maybe mango).

because of that its just mess to buy from samsung because they soon adopt bada OS or windows 7 in some of their phones if android has issues with patents from microsoft and apple .

if manufacturers jump like that way , its really big trouble for consumers .

even nokia is same as apple , nokia ruled over many years in phone market because they control software of the phone but its fragmented . only high-end phones support all apps from appstore and even high-end phones get regular updates .

iphone is the best until now , now negative sides , iphone got no INPUT . no SD-slot or removable battery , my father bought galaxy s2 because of those removable battery and card slot.

iphone sucks input side but if u used ipod for years u definitely used itunes for years together , so in that case iphone is best way to go but if u are new to itunes its waste to chose iphone , better go other phones .

apple is like locked system , 0once u enter u have to stay there like forever , difficult to get out .

one of my friends switched to mac in 2007 and till today he love it , didn't go abck to windows , its just apple has best user-experience but not "innovation" or "latest technology"

Every technology we now think it's Apple's is in fact more or less old technology but used in a new marketing context (a little more complex than just branding it with a fancy name).

Part of their formula is to manufacture extra high-quality solutions that are, of course, very expensive. The illusion to the masses is that it seems as Apple is the only one who has that technology and that no other manufacturer can't accomplish that, while they can, but they won't because they would be very expensive.
So iPhone in free sale is by far the most expensive smartphone in the world (here in Croatia: 1100 euros, or about $1500) - but they can afford that because they know that they won't lose their customers - even better, the iPhone will be made even greater object of desire. This business model, along with contractors all over the world, ensured Apple dominance and overall popularity over other manufacturers, who can only be good copycats at best.
