It has become common practice to offer an Iphone to people that want to leave us, simply because it is, in many cases, a sure-fire hit - pretty much everyone wants to have an Iphone as long as it is affordable.
To say that this is not due to the popularity of the product Iphone, is of course ridiculous. It is a highly wanted and highly regarded device. Whether or not it is the best smartphone is not even an issue here, what matters is how the customer views it.
Twist or turn it anyway you want, the most popular and best selling single device is the Iphone. It doesn't matter *how* it is being sold.

of course Apple is the biggest manufacturer (for now) as they're the only one who produce iphone with iOS. While if you combine all othe manufacturer who use Android, it's a whole lot more. It's amazing to see Android is growing so fast.
As the article said here, next year I believe Samsung will take over the number 1. Their SGS2 sales is a lot more than their first SGS last year..

Objects of desire are created by seduction, not by satisfying certain technical and utilitary parameters (because desire is different from need).
Because Apple iPhone is the only true object of desire (we don't feel jealous when someone has Samsung Galaxy but we are jealous when someone has iPhone) among electronic manufacturers (even Bang&Olufsen is just a simulated object of desire), it is logical to conclude that only possesing an iPhone won't generate cravings for other devices. It has nothing to do with anything rational, it is a deep subconcious egoistic craving that has been engineered in our society from the beginning of capitalist order and for which Apple represents ultimate manifestation.
I have iPhone 3G for two and a half years now and I still don't see any other desire than eventually iPhone4, and I could be so blind and say that this is only because iPhone does its job perfectly adequate - but it's not true - I still miss crucial features and any other Android phone would satisfy that, but all I'm thinkih about is iPhone - without reason, only by egoistic libido, because iPhone is a true phallus of our time.

I'm fully enmeshed in it. Ever since he invented video calling & the 5 megapixel camera oh and the touchscreen & the concept of a smartphone, Steve Jobs has been godlike in my eyes ;-)
but really I wouldn't say I'm a fan of any particular brand. I had my first smartphone several years ago with the handspring (which later became palm) treo 180.
I remember being amazed that it had 16Mb in built memory & I could read books on my phone & carry 10 or 11 books around with me anywhere I went.
I graduated on through SE P800 then P900. Through some dodgy motorola MPXs & Z8s & the like to windows phones like the MWG atom life, the Samsung Omnia & the HTC touch HD. Whilst flirting lovingly with the Nokia N95 & E55 & not so lovingly with the N97 (apart from the downloadable BBC iplayer content which I still miss).
I then got the Legend (which I still have & love it's looks) & then moved onto the iphone 4.
But through all that, as I got one phone I saw another that I wanted more & within 3 - 4 months was buying a new phone before thinking (how do I tell the wife I've just bought yet another phone).
Then I got the iphone 4 & since then I've not even thought of buying a new phone - I'm still more than happy with it. Maybe when my upgrade is due I'll look around & see what's on offer. But this is the first phone that I've had that I don't feel the need to replace, mid contract, for another phone that can do more. Simply because it works & works well & does everything I need at this time.
I gotta love apple for that.
In fact.
the iphone saved my marriage.
There it's official - Steve Jobs is also the greatest marriage guidance counsellor on the planet ;-)

Apple can only do one thing when your are at top and thats go DOWN..Nokia had bad year so how can that count ..Well millions of people want a smartfone whereas apple is for simpletons and is a dumbfone attached to a computer.
Of course apple works well anything that slows it down jobs bans it..All other fones can handle the lot..There are more apple haters in this world than lovers.
I want gsmarena to put apple on its own site to get rid of it out of my face,,after all its every manufacturer against apple the fone for simpletons..Get yourself a proper smartfone and learn something instead playing a game on a dumbfone ifone.

but we can all make sweeping generalisations:
For instance; ALL fandroids spend 97.5% of their time whining about the failings of the iphone whilst bizzarely ignoring the fact that their latest & greatest android phone has already been outdated by the next latest & greatest android phone.
& Android phones can't be that great - one only has to look at the miriad forums, packed full of disgruntled android owners bemoaning the lack of an update to their latest baby. & read the countless articles on the web about massive customer backlashes against the likes of HTC & Samsung et all because they released a press statement saying no more updates for this 3 month old phone....

iPhone is the only phone which didn't include (until recently) some basic functions like video capture, SMS delivery report (still doesn't!), camera zoom, SMS templates and whole bunch of others. In that time, every other phone which lacks those function would be imidiately discarded not as bad product, but a malfunctioned product.
Instead, everyone praised Apple and approved its restrictive and retarded policy, because Apple is phallus for our egos, the proof we are special and have at least 8" dick (for men) and huge boobs (for women), and anyone who is opposed to that is only because he is frustrated and jealous! End of story. Apple rules, and everyone is special and original even when all of their friends have iPhones.

very few functions are dropped off the ol... moreYes, I understand - all apple fanboys are the same. First they don't need a feature, then the feature is great, and then perhaps minor, if not supported on their phone.
There are no problems and lags. If there are some reported - that cannot be true, as true fanboys never experience problems. If, by any chance, someone is stupid enough to repeat he has problems, then it is cheating and never had an iphone.
Glad you're happy with your iphones and do not have any issues with FCs (looking at the app store feedback I quite doubt I'm the only one having them though). But as I said, it cannot be apple, must have been my fault. Or anyone's else.

very few functions are dropped off the older phones & only then because the hardware isn't capable of coping so it's left out. Unlike Android phones where - if the phone isn't capable of doing everything then the update is left out entirely or takes months & months to sort out.
Updates RARELY cause problems - I haven't had a single issue on any of my multiple updates
The issue with lag on the iphone 3G was sorted WITHIN 2 WEEKS...
I've never had a single app force close or freeze on my iphone 4.
Unlike my HTC legend which force closes all the time & my android tablet which I wish I'd never bought.
you've clearly never owned an iphone as you state things as facts which are simply not true.
I have an iphone 4 & a HTC legend - My wife has an iphone 3GS
My HTC legend is on 2.2 & will never receive any further updates (I tried a custom ROM of 2.3 which nearly killed the phone & made it laggy as hell & it was a nightmare to install & even worse to uninstall)& I have to spring clean it regularly as it retains so much crap (just like windows) & becomes slow & laggy & unresponsive.
My Wife's 3GS is running iOS 4.3.4 & is silky smooth & will be guaranteed an update to iOS 5.
The 3GS is 8 months older than the legend & still receiving updates whilst the legend has been forgotten by HTC..
Ergo - buy an iphone - you get better support & have a better phone which simply works.
