Unfortunately, the video doesn't show the top right corner notch where the front camera should be.

Oathbreaker, 18 Feb 2018There has been gesture swipes since 2009 from Palm. Then in... moreI havn't seen anyone saying Apple invented gestures (certainly not the article).

But that people saying things like "iPhone X like gestures" and compare it to to the iPhone X is just natural. iPhone X, unlike any unit running OS that previously had these kind of interface is a currently available and very popular phone. Of course that is what people is going to compare it to.

Bezel-less Androids has been around for a while now, yet no manufacture implemented a gesture based UI until now (and i'm talking about manufactures, not some 3rd party software). Of course iPhone X has made other manufacture wanting to try this out now. And I'm not saying they copy Apple, since Apple did not come up with this first, but they are following in Apples footsteps implementing similar things now.

    You meant:
    -Palm OS gestures (2009):

    -Blackberry gestures (2013)

-and similar to Nokia MeeGo gestures (2011 - and this video IS from GSMArena):

How is it “iPhone X-style gestures, of course” when I used those gestures in 2009 on the NOKIA N9 and later with the Blackverry Q10 and Passpport?

AnonD-628531, 17 Feb 2018Has Apple been sued for completely copying WebOS gestures yet??WebOS dead and right now owned by LG so let LG sue Apple and Apple already invest in lg OLED that paid $3 billion lol.

There has been gesture swipes since 2009 from Palm. Then in 2011 with Meego and QNX. Then again in 2013 with BB10. On Android, there are apps like All-One Gesture and Nova Prime Launcher's gesture swipes.

STOP MAKING IT SOUND LIKE APPLE INVENTED GESTURE SWIPES! IT'S APPLE DOING THE COPYING.

The gesture reminds me my old Nokia N9 and then my previous BB Z30! It's so bad several years later Apple proudly announce this for itself. good work Xiaomi, Apple did the same shit!

I don't think any of its "unique" features have been incorporated in Stock Android or iOS. It has a base of Android but acts like iOS. Both OSes have their specific design pattern but MIUI just creates a mess of its own.
I don't give a shit about Apple but this is for sure shameless copy of iPhone's gestures. I bought this phone because it had the best value for money. Only thing i hate about this phone is its OS.

MIUI isn't optimized for such interaction. They cooked up the gestures on top of old MIUI which was made for phones with buttons. Look at the recent menu, it still uses the old app-by-app layout instead of stack. Also, shame on xiaomi. I'm not surprised they copied Apple, but I'm disappointed.

Gesture control has existed for a while in the Xposed/rooted Android world and is even possible to a lesser extent on all non-rooted Android devices using third-party apps.

Obviously Apple didn't invent anything new but as with many other things in the past, other companies are quick to follow suit, becwise And that's because of how Apple maintains its own image of a premium brand.

                                  Hmm pretty promising...

Im not buying that video. But since it started with the topic of copying, Apple iOS11 copied screenshot from MIUI8. Copying doesn't make a phone inferior. It makes an overall better device.
Xiaomi phones are more durable for the price compared to Apple.
