Not to mention the old favorite headphone jack. Maybe they want to sell more of their high end Bluetooth headphones with LDAC that's why they removed the jack but I'm not a fan of Bluetooth headset because of the latency issue.

Everything else on it I like, except back fp scanner and 18:9 screen, but I could compromise with that.
Really a shame, with all the innovations like 4k hdr video recording, haptic vibration system, new algorithm motion eye camera, 3d scanner on both cameras...that they come up with that, and jack the jack, the one of most important feature to me.
So yup, design is flawed and stupid. I just cant fan that.
And seems numerous other Xperia fans think the same, some about the fp scanner, some about downgrade of front cam....
All in all, it doesnt look good for Sony this time around.
And I seriously doubt they will keep the jack on upcoming XZ2 premium.
Guess they have to learn about arrogance the hard way, just like Htc did with the jack also, or apple with iphone X screen, or Sammy with S6 sd card.

treater, 26 Feb 2018Samsung sucks as it is Keep talking and babbling whatever you want. The new Samsung flagships of 2018 are better in any way than this Sony junk of this year. Sony not even design and produce processors for smartphones, for that and for other feature things that the Samsung flagships have you should shut up because you don't have any arguments for talking something against the the Galaxy S9/S9+ duo.

XZ2 looks fine but why... morei think theyremoved the 3.5 mm jack maybe because they wanted to make the speaker louder and for the new dynamic vibration thingy, maybe the XZ2 can function like a PS4 controller ? Dunno but it seems it's a bit of a gimmick until the reviews come in. Also maybe it's because they hace switched to a totally new form factor, it seems rarely any manufacturer dies it right, i think, when they jump on 18.9 or 16.9

Lemme get this straight:
The phones are quite thick, they have small batteries (compared to other flagships which are thinner) and thet do not have the audio jack?!?
Never let the intern design your flagships. Costs nothing, but will cost you now.
Also not jumping yet on QHD but jumping on 18:9 craze.. I am disappointed by this year's release, even if they finally gave in the people reclaiming an upgrade of their old box design (it was overused, but was better than this one, looks like the HTC U11).

Sony Listen! You are famous for your good music phones. Why on earth do you follow this stupid trend of removing 3.5 mm audio jack. Very disappointing!!! I have tried htc u11 before with adapter. It is NOT a good experience. Therefore I sold the phone. Bring the 3.5 mm audio jack back or you will loose customers.

i will never buy a mobile without 3.5 mm audio jack. i have used w800 sony walkman phone and xperia arc s. they were great for music and camera. now i dont care for sony cause they forget camera and music.

What an anti climax for compact2. Its ugly really , lost its Sony character and I for sure would'nt touch it with a barge pole!

The compact version look ugly ughh.
XZ2 looks fine but why oh why did they remove the headphone jack? Very disappointing for a company well known for making good music equipment/gadgets. I hate Apple for starting this stupid trend.

So they decided to copy other makers... If your going to copy, copy the new bezelless design, don't keep those fugly big bezels! RIP Sony Mobile Division. Keep up the good work on the TV's and Playstation though...

Sony has failed to bring their A game with the new releases. I have kept my Z3 compact all this time, waiting.... in the hope of a decent replacement with Bezel-less screen. Alas, Sony has gone for the 2005 look. RIP Sony, hello Samsung.
