This is yet another example as to why Sony always fall behind the big guys in the smartphone space. Inconsistent metering on a flagship phone? Come on, even Vivo seem to be doing a better job here. Sony got enormous potential to beat the likes of Samsung but they either disappoint or just don't take their smartphone business seriously. I'm yet to be surprised by an Xperia. Sony's flagship device naming isn't consistent. Cameras are not that exciting when compared to flagships from other OEMs whereas Sony Imaging Division churns out excellent dedicated cameras and also make sensors for smartphone cameras. I just hope Sony won't put up a disappointing show at the MWC. I've been patiently waiting for Acoustics Surface Sound to make its way to the next flagship Xperia, Dynamic Vibration System, improved flagship grade camera quality and much more from Sony. Waiting for a radical design change as well because the current design don't entice me anymore. As always, Angie looks cute and flawlessly does the review. :) Sonyfanboys and advocates, learn to accept the truth!

And what "contrast ratio" has to do with metering during backlighted selfies?

Camera can be average but XZ Premium is the fastest phone out there. Isn't is enough? Poor fanboys.

xzp proved to be worse than all of the phones from the comparison.
iphone x did a really poor job as well for the price apple asks for it.

What a great Video. Thank you gsmarena for taking notice of all the comments, and giving us such a true and honest comparison. Plus, Selfies done in different scenarios. Sony has the worst front camera. Also the rear camera has the worst low light photography in it class.

I don't get how Sony fans keeps on saying that the XZP selfie camera is the BEST for video selfie since GSMArena CLEARLY stated the reason for not including it in the top 7 selfie video smartphone in the first place. Are you all really that ignorant? And for those of you who said that GSMArena is biased. Lol. GSMArena is one of THE most unbiased tech site in the web. They even make this follow up video to explain to their readers why they exclude the XzP in the first place.
(But I guess GSMArena are not bias if they started praising the Xperia's camera, am I right Sony fanboys? Lol.

Well that’s true but who the hell will take a selfie in ‘against the light’ position, i’m not a ‘selfie people’ but if i’m gonna take a selfie i’ll make sure that i’m not against the light instead i’ll face where the light source is coming from. I’m not saying this because i’m a fan of sony but i’m that kind of people that will choose detail over brightness. Btw, thank you for reading our comments. Then i don’t have XZP but as far as i know you can change the metering in manual mode?

Well, I'm no selfie guy but if the upcoming line still use same lens, aperture and sensor in the front camera; nothing like a soft update to the betterment of the XZP image processing algorithm - Also... agree with the guy's appreciation on Angie; she's cute :)

[deleted post]They made good improvements though. So let's see if that continues. Maybe this year and next year they would continue. Hopefully in a more rapid rate but we will see. Xz and xzp were good steps forward. They just need to keep improving

okay but still cant understand why its better to have phone which is shaking every-wear than phone which has great stabilization in all situations and cant shoot you properly only in one specific scenario.
the women in video is very nice and good looking :)
