Daimler AG, aka Mercedes-Benz. Or (also) Smart :P
Ford was a relative latecomer to the game (and in times when national markets were protected from foreign manufacturers)
(and of course, Daimler AG and its predecessor corporate entities didn't stop others from making cars; they just protected and licensed _real technical innovation_)

PattyB, 11 Aug 2011You must give Apple some credit for it's briliant strategy.... moreWell we can't know about kindergarten, but some later stuff about Steve Jobs might be revealing...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breakout_(video_game)#History_and_development
"The original deadline was met after Wozniak did not sleep for four days straight. In the end 50 chips were removed from Jobs' original design. This equated to a US$5,000 bonus, which Jobs kept secret from Wozniak, instead only paying him $375."
(yes, that Steve Wozniak and that Steve Jobs)
Also from: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CW0DUg63lqU
Steve Jobs: "It comes down to trying to expose yourself to the best things that humans have done. And then try to bring this things in, to what you're doing. Picasso had a saying, "Good artists copy, great artists steal". And we have always been shameless about stealing great ideas."
(yup, that is correct, Steve Jobs shameless about "his" innovations via "stealing" ...back then he remembered how the progress works, even in front of a camera)

Bullish behaviour would be among them. It's not my fault that your darling is particularly good recently at displaying such trait.

There is no doubt in my mind between the two products.
One plays Flash the other does not.
Apple are running scared to go this length, shows Samsung must have a winner on their hands.

clash of the titan!!!!
i think apple is so ridiculous yet smart enough to have a case by sueing samsung or htc, maybe apple is more and more treathened these days by the competition of samsung devices that makes apple does this desperates measures....
okay maybe apple will win in one or two cases in the name of intellectual rights law, but in the eye of an objective consument this is a dirty way to get rid of your competition.
don't get me wrong i own an iphone and doesn't even have samsung phones...

AnonD-17348, 11 Aug 2011Truth is, Apple wants to get rid of ALL competition, so tha... moreI've owned a iPhone 3GS followed by a Samsung vibrant( Galaxy S). there not alike at all. I found nothing in common. home screens unrelated as apple doesn't have widgets. the iPhone being solidly built the vibrant being greasy cheap plastic. the vibrant screen being the best money can buy & MY iPhone 3GS having dead regions limiting it's functionality. importing content being a landslide with itunes over Kies. Free software for samsung and pay as you go for apple. They were polar opposites not copies.
from my perspective apple and sumsung products are not close to each other. I've seen plenty of blatant copies of iPhone in overseas mobile phone shops but there not made by samsung.

Anonymous, 12 Aug 2011Sony and LG also just settled a patent infringement case. W... moreNobody's screaming murder, mate. Apple can sue whoever they want to. For valid reasons. Such as a blatant copying of the looks of their products (the Galaxy series of phones) and the looks of the UI they use (TouchWiz on the Galaxy range). But certainly not because a company's made a product that's got "a rectangular shape with rounded corners." That's totally ridiculous and the only part of their suing I'm against.

AnonD-16342, 11 Aug 2011Sorry Mate..... you have no idea what you are talking about... moreActually, YOU have no idea what you're talking about. No, Apple did not sue HTC etc. (but maybe it's just the start for them); however, with Samsung, it DID lay down "a rectangular shape with rounded corners" as an argument for patent infringement.
Now, I have no issues with Apple suing Samsung over, say, the looks of the Galaxy series of phones, especially the Ace, and the looks of the TouchWiz UI, both of which are blatant rip-offs of the iPhone 4. And they have every right to, too. However, it's silly arguments like these that don't go down well with me.
And lastly, here's something you could go through: The Samsung digital frame, launched in 2006, a few years ahead of the iPad.
http://www.engadget.com/2006/03/09/samsung-digital-picture-frame-stores-pics-movies-music/
Now, do you see a resemblance between THIS and the iPad, which came out a few years later?

Do you guys know who was slapped with the 2nd highest criminal antitrust fine in US? Samsung, for operating a cartel and price fixing. USD300 million
Do you know who was slapped with a €145 million fine in EU? Samsung, for cartel and price fixing.
Please check these facts for yourself. It's ok to not like patent litigation. I also don't mind not liking Apple for being sue-happy (though I believe they protect their designs), but please don't try to paint Samsung as this testy eyed innocent victim.
They have a history of copying others, and play much dirtier than other companies, Apple included in my personal opinion.

Sony and LG also just settled a patent infringement case. Wonder why no one is screaming bloody murder and calling LG bullies for trying to get PS3s banned before. Oh sorry, it's because Apple isnt involved. It's only bullying when Apple is involved. Totally ok when other companies do it.

yes, this is what i expected to happen to samsung before.samsung attacks all the markets of smartphones ridiculously.samsung do not obey RULES OF GAME.samsung betray apple cause they are apples largest supplier and they know apples future plans better than others.thats why they copy cat apples products in KOREAN WAY (not chinese!!)its not just apple which want to take down samsung, even sony ericsson,motorola,nokia,HTC,... are with apple too.but there is one thing which im with samsung!! Because samsung FORCES other companies to develope NEW TECHNOLGIES with lower prices.which is good news for us. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE

AnonD-16342, 11 Aug 2011Sorry Mate..... you have no idea what you are talking about... moreThe point is that EVERY CELL PHONE MANUFACTURER has used "a rectangular product shape with all four corners uniformly rounded" in their designs. They thought it was common sense to NOT claim something so bluntly obvious as their own invention. Just like, indeed, you only see wild-eyed nutjobs try and patent "the wheel" as their own invention.
I don't hate Apple, but yeah, in my analogy, Apple's a wild-eyed nutjob.

You must give Apple some credit for it's briliant strategy... Act like a little spoiled brat. "This is my playground and you can't play on it!" I'll bet you all that Steve Jobs didn't have many friends when he was a kid.
