Calm down everyone. This is either a cancelled device or fake altogether. I know LG well enough to know they wouldn't actually make a move to piss of their fanbase. There will not be any notches on LG phones. Chill out!

I am reading and cant believe that managers and designers in many companies are so STUPID!
who likes the notch?
why?
is it possible that everywhere are idiots who are running these big companies?
who approves these decisions?
in last 5 years I didn't see not even one design that covers all (long battery life, good HW inside, beauty of device, ergonomic, etc.... ). In each phone, in each design, something is missing..... unbelievable!

It seems like they are scrapping a fine device for a worse one. This one almost came out with an OLED screen, which would save the series. The new one will have an LCD..
The only thing is Im really not a fan of LGs camera setup.

Smartphone VR is used very little and mostly just to show off to family and friends. Unlike PC based VR which used for prolonged periods and in private.
I, myself, couldn't care less about VR on a bloody PHONE! I want full 2-way callrecording, loud loudspeakers (yes I'm an old deaf nitwit, so what!) and long battery life. And good reception everywhere (even in the little room, goddammit!)
Seriously, who even uses VR on a phone these days? A HTC Vive or Oculus Rift are way more fun. And in 2018 are more and better PC based VR-goodies on their way (both in hardware and software).

First we had the ridiculous elongated screens that ere useless for playing video's, screencasting to TV and noty even utilized by the onboard (video-)camera's
And now we have a stupid cut-out at the top blocking halve the top? Why use elongated screens if they're blocking out half the top with some stupid notch? Might as well keep the screen at 16:9 and use proper top and bottom bezel.
Not to mention these phones can't be used single handedly. Just try to drag down the notification list or shortcut-buttons shade with your thumb.
Ergonomics go out the windows just as common sense! We're doomed!

It's a lazy and thought... moreActually, LG invented it with the V10, which had a small additional display at the top using otherwise empty space. Apple copied the idea, only a bit more tidily. Now Asus has copied Apple but with less wasted space and a more aesthetic notch. So LG is merely doing a logical extension of their own idea.
