The Galaxy A8 (2018), on the other hand, sits in the 'monthly security updates' section on Samsung's website.

Nokia 7 plus is a lot better than Samsung a8+ at least you're sure you'll get 2 years of android updates and 3 years of security updates (every month)

Trevor T., 05 Mar 2018Only logical, given the cheap price tag /s Yeah it's just 600€ in EU lol

I am patiently waiting for Nokia 7 plus. My relationship with Samsung phones is over.

Nobody cares about security updates. If Samsung wants to stay relevant then they should give 3 Android version updates to all phones above $500 and 2 updates for phones between 250-500$.
Also by major updates I don't mean launching the phone with outdated software and updating to the current.

Lets hope that there will bee someone with 3 / 4 years of updates.

The only explanation for this would be that A8+ is only sold on asian markets and A8 on european markets.

Seeing as how they can barely keep up with updating the S8 to the latest security patch this was not to be expected and I'm guessing the same will happen to the S8 at the beginning of next year when the S10 comes out. Just forget about updates if you own a samsung device.

Anonymous, 05 Mar 2018i don't understand why samsung doesn't care about security ... moreAnd where are Microsoft phones???? It´s not that they don´t care, it clearly doesn´t affect them enough. They would if it affected them as much. Apple usually provides very quick security updates but you do pay a premium for it.

Same as before, Galaxy A5 gets monthly and A7 quarterly, so their most recent offerings A8 same as A5 and A8+ same as A7... A8 substitutes the A5 line and A8+ the A7 line. So it makes sense. they just changed the naming convention so their phones all follow the same pattern with Note 8, S8 and A8...

Samsux go for Nokia super smooth stock android

Weird indeed. But it's not like that's going to make a difference. People make such a big fuss over security updates as if their private lives are incredibly important.

A8 gets monthly while A8+ gets quarterly that is weird

It's simple, a8+ model sold bad.... and are you surprised? They priced it same as s8.
