05 March 2018
The Galaxy A8 (2018), on the other hand, sits in the 'monthly security updates' section on Samsung's website.

Well, this is pathetic. Might just reduce the numbers of phones and just release one for each range.

Kinda weird the 2017 A5 and A7 have different regular updates, same as A8 and A8+. And the Note FE should be in monthly security updates.

its time to boycott these overpriced non supportive OEM

Very peculiar that they segregate models from the same family - the 2017 A5 and A7 are arguably phones with identical hardware (except for the screen & battery) yet are going to be updated separately, likewise for the 2018 A8 and A8+.

I wonder if part of this segregation is due to targeted markets - the big screen midrangers often sell better in Asia than Europe, while their smaller screened counterparts often do better in Europe (as seen by the markets the A8 and A8+ were launched in).

i don't understand why samsung doesn't care about security in general and to make everyone as safe as possible no matter the model they bought

in comparison, microsoft provides security updates to all from the low end notebook to most powerful desktops
