i guess, the removal is influenced by more than the trend, if sony really follow the trend, they supposedly already going on with notch display, AI*insert name here*, and the face unlock rage, but they not.
maybe the other influence is the walkman, and the fact that they made earphone and headphone, so producing usb-c earphone and headphone might come as other product line for sony, seeing how common usb-c among mobile, pc and laptop. Not mention their bluetooth headset accesories

AnonD-607239, 14 Mar 2018Everybody is doing it but lets only attack Sony. And what do you have against sony? I can understand your frustration over the new design and everything. But did sony ever hurt you? Sent a malware specifically to your device and not others? Answer rationally. Because technically your comment is considered a bash if not given reasons.

I don't understand why people always have to complain from something. They decided to remove the jack and removed it. Of course it is funny to blame designers for this since from the result doesn't look they have designers at all. They made ugly phones with great features. Perhaps no one will see the features, people will see just expensive ugly phones. And carriers will sell those expensive ugly phones to old people which pay for any shit in the carrier's shop because the salesman told them it is on a great price.

What, with their terrible WF-1000 truly wireless robes failing with disconnections and not syncing video audio?
Sony, you are producing smartphones with no identity and blends in like an inexpensive China brand phone. Now you want to remove the headphone jack - lesser reason to get your products.

Sony in 2019
""Other companies drop all their moneys to ocean, so we decide to do the same. We already ordered ten ships containers that will be dropped in the middle of ocean.""
What as ldiotic idea... your beloved new design is nothing special, and its just two slabs of glass with some aluminium between. Small hole for headphone would not be even visible for 90% of time.

KillBill, 14 Mar 2018Oh yeah, if other mobile CEO's start to commit suicide Sony... moreHey, HMD Nokia is not doing that. In fact, they're profitting more than they do, despite the major loss but they need to spend that much to make a comeback.

I hate the excuse of a market trend. I still use a 3.5mm jack because it's better than Bluetooth and honest to god I am not going to walk around with a damn adapter. Then there is the excuse of the "well you can use USB C headphones"... oh wait I can't use them on other stuff, cue another adapter! If you include a 3.5mm jack then at least your customers can decide for themselves which kind they would like to use.

Oh yeah, if other mobile CEO's start to commit suicide Sony will follow...and thats what are going to happen now.
Brands need to be different, dont keep the headphone jack is not a trend thing, is a sh*tty trend to force people to buy wireless headphones, at more cost than wired, and if you go out of battery you are f*ckd and cant listen music.
LG and Xiaomi arfe keeping the headphone jack because they know something that other brands are missing but oh well, thats why i only buy those two brands, never fail.
Bye Sony...you are the new Nokia, the new HTC...the new (wharever you can call it).
St*pid decision...

1. Motorola did it first with their first Moto Z. I don't know their reason.
2. Apple did it because of Courage and their aggressive marketing for wireless headphones.
3. HTC did it because they want us to try out U-Sonic USB-C noise cancelling headphones and they're very good as a result.
4. Essential did it because they don't want to have a bulge on their monolithic phone. Speaking of which, Essential is probably the only phone maker doing a monolithic design like Sony.
5. Razer did it because they want more battery space and they manage to gain 500maH from it.
6. Sony did it because the others are doing it.
Weakest reasoning coming from a riskless people like the Japanese.

This was really fun to read. Thanks Peter, you made my day. Providing 3.5 mm headphones as accessory for a phone that does not have a jack is just phenomenal.

Damn Sony, you're following thot like Apple to strip off the 3.5mm jack like a girl's clothes and call it a trend.
Sony, be modest, be prude, be complete. You don't need to do that to fit right in. There are people who want those kind of women, the women full of features just like their phones.

Every manufacturer comes with its own reason for removing this headphone jack, they're quite creative, each reason is different! Lol
