Weekly poll: Sony Xperia XZ2 takes on its Compact sibling

18 March 2018
The big XZ2 has a few more features, but the XZ2 Compact is a whopping €200 cheaper.

Xperia-compact-sized phones are legitimately too small to use. I cannot comprehend how people manage to use them.

They're both nice phones, but between these two, I would choose the niche filling compact and conveniently slip it in my pocket as a mini-power house.

Save all your money. Have your family on sale if you need to.

Compact. Best in niche market that contain solely the Xperia Compact line.

AnonD-745590, 18 Mar 2018It's a shame that Sony didn't make the step forward to OLED... moreThey taking it slow as there are still some issues with OLED for a long time usage. Afaik they were the first introducing OLED on TV but later not use them until last year. They really want the users to use the device for as long as they can, hence all battery care initiative, usage of LCD, speaker that operate at a lower than their rated maximum power, usage of plastics on the frame to absorb impact.

It's a shame that Sony didn't make the step forward to OLED screens. That's the only thing stopping me from buying their phones right now.

Thing is the "big" phone isn't actually big compared to other flagships so it's kinda pointless.

On the other hand, the compact phone can really make a case for itself.

AnonD-529878, 18 Mar 2018Wouldn't buy this 'cause of the ugly design, but I'd always... moreJust go buy a tablet. Phones are already oversized. They shouldn't get any bigger.

I voted for the compact simply because it's the only compact flagship on the market.

I think both XZ2 and Compact are great smartphones, and while I do like the back panel of the XZ2 in black, I do not care for either of them personally. I will not vote in poll but instead I pick Xperia Z3 in white for sharp yet supple design. My other favorite Xperia device is Xperia XA2 Ultra for its blue color and screen size, but I think the bezels can be wider. I cannot afford either device and would like to know how audio sounds through each.

For me, the compact one is the best smartphone released this year.

Although the design of both XZ2 pair(s) are growing on me rapidly , i had to choose the XZ2 Compact over regular XZ2 that has a back design similar to the-legendary-powerhouse-midrange Xperia SP from 5 years ago , since XZ2C is currently the cheapest SD845 devices on the market and most powerful compact-powerhouse Android flagship devices right now and Sony consistency on making small yet powerful devices like this on different section (such as camera and walkman) . For regular XZ2 that does like has a back design revival-Xperia-Neo-design-spirit does has a some important features in the market such as Wireless Charging and DVS (Dynamic Vibratiom System) .

sales might be disappointed this time for those prices. atleast they should have kept wireless charging for the compact.

The little monster is smaller than the iPhone 8. That is very remarkable. Should sell decently.

The larger one is a hard sell, thanks to the many more rivals in the market.

I wish there was an option which said 'neither of them' because both are ugly looking devices!
I'm not hating Sony as a brand, I own a xz premium but the ugly design and lack of headphone jack does not make the XZ2 worthy of 'sony' brand, but unfortunately looks like some insider wants to sabotage the mobile division.
But I went with Compact because it looks slightly better than the bigger sibling.

Anonymous, 18 Mar 2018XZ2 for future-proof, XZ2 compact for fit for sporty lifestyle. XZ2 is future proof but not XZ2 Compact? Both are same phone with XZ2 only having dynamic vibration system
