ALPHABOY17, 18 Mar 2018Galaxy alpha. The only samsung phone that I loved the most!... moreThanks, at the start of the year support looked promising for the Galaxy S6: https://m.gsmarena.com/oreo_for_samsung_galaxy_s6_could_be_arriving_soon-news-29176.php
Alas it wasn't to be, which is fine by me, Nougat (7.0) is tasty enough ;)

But then I realised that my S6 would also no longer receive any security updates!
(It's last security update was March 2018):
                https://m.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s6_models_will_no_longer_get_security_updates-news-30388.php
The comments section may also be worth a read, with suggestions of anti-virus or installing a custom rom, but some good advice from Samsung would've been nice, the representative I spoke to was suprised the security updates had finished & was genuinely sympathetic.
I asked what if something big like Spectre or Meltdown was going around, she replied that Samsung would send out a security patch update to any vulnerable devices.

If they're still sending security updates to the S6 edge+ & the S6 Active, then surely not much effort is required to include the S6 & S6 edge?

Most people don't get their device when it's first released, & here in the U.K. the S7 is still on sale, but it looks like the S7 security updates will end in March 2019.
                I hope I'm wrong & you'll get a year or 2 longer ;)

It's not good enough for a flagship!, it kinda smacks of obsolescence.

It doesn't truly reflect *especially the latter part of their statement:
'At Samsung, we take security and privacy issues very seriously and we are doing our best to respond as quickly as possible.
*Securing your device and maintaining the trust you place in us is our top priority'.

Samsung has a chance to rise above the competition and protect their customers security for longer.

And the labour? You have no idea how much earn labourer at foxconn.
For your information is a 0,20 eur per hour. You must agree thats not fair compared to some movie star which get couple of millions promoting Samsung product for a 30 second in TV spot advertising.
So i know nothing as usualy as you always say but i know enough to tell thata Samsung is greedy company obsessed by money. They do litterary everything to maximize sales.
In case of xiaomi they dont need to do anything apart putting a 350 price tag next to a comparable specs of Mi7 with S9 samsung.
To me xiaomi is winner and Samsung can breathe dust left by xiaomi which is far ahead in specs compared to price.
Just to tell you better than advertising its a price compared to specs.
This is the best advertising. And havuing the best possible specs for lowest possible price always sells much more that stupid advertising promoted by some stupid star who cant even value the money. Charlie Sheen for example.

There are 3 main issues with the S line that prevent me to buy one:
1 - I don't like edge display (watching full screen movies, photos etc is a nightmare + accidental touches)
2 - VERY LAZY updates - it takes Sammy 1 year to roll out what other brands have had for months - premium price for not so premium updates - even those china replika brands are ahead)
3 - Almost EVERYONE I see using a Samsung phone has a broken display - is this a trend of Sammy users or what? I tend to believe that Sammy either lies about the gorilla glass used either the phones are specially designed this way - a new display costs about 50% of a brand new phone = Bling Bling!

Conclusion: premium price for below average updates = No thanks!
