If the X wasn't selling at 1K+ they would've had to lower the price, introduce marketing promos, or take a massive writedown on unsold inventory (see Essential PH-1, Samsung's trade-in offers and free accessories promotions, HP's Palm acquisition, etc.). That's how capitalism works.

right calculation is 370$ Material and emplyoee payment,5$ Package,20$ all accessories (included headphone and charge), about 20$ Transport(in general per item ), about 25$Marketing Per Item, taxes are carried by consumers. so let's calculate, Current Price of a iPhone X 64GB 999$ and launch price was way higher, it menas 999-440=460$ per iPhoneX Pure win directly in the pocket of Tim Cook. that's how to become worthiest company in the world to produce as low as possible and sell as expensive as possible to bunch of stupid people.

My iPhone 6 is really aging lately, with battery performance dropping radically. The only thing I like about the Apple phones is updates. My Note8 is getting far less updates and it’s a 3-4 year newer phone. I would like to upgrade to a newer Apple phone some day (I use 2 phones, Note8 and the iPhone 6) but the X is way too overpriced, it is worth 500-550 euro at mostfor the features it delivers. So maybe a SE2, or the cheaper X successor, who knows. The LCD displays used in iPhones are very good in my opinion.

All in all i agree on most of the things, we both agree on "apple could go cheaper" but People forget about the accessoire set, and the effort of selling these things.

If we'll break the 1k$ into pieces of why it costs as much. We know that ~400avg is just the production. Apple knows that it's costy to make your own chipset, Apple could go lazy and just buy the snapdragon of the time to lower costs, but the iSheeps would faint. "WHAT!? A SNAPDRAGON IN IPHONE!???? NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!" Or fit other lower value components. Etc.
Now. We're left with 600$, producing commercials cost money, you know. And you have to cover that up. Misleading. It is not 6.45" as stated. Minus the notch and the fact you are getting black bars when watching regular 16:9 videos you are left with a 5'' screen.
A regular 16:9 phone with no notch and normal bezel still has higher screen to body ratio when displaying media.

I'm not saying iPhone X is ugly, it all comes to preference anyway. But other phone manufacturers copying Apple notch design is causing a big uproar of hate from consumers.

Not sure what's next for Apple... perhaps they will turn the iPhone into a PC and allow it to be Docked with GamePad for more professional-styled console gaming in the future, or maybe something like the DeX where it transforms into an iMac. Because we still are a distance away from Holographic Displays, especially Three Dimensional ones that can be attached to a smart-bracelet.

The only reason the x costs so much is the same every iPhone costs so much. Apple is greedy.
And they can claim so much cost or have people deluded into it with rest downs...But in the end less money went into battery, software, and ram among a few things. And no more went into camera " except front one on x" or other things than other phones. Little more in SoC that throttles more, storage, and has more in display on x.
Other phones can match the cost of most of these parts and exceed in accessories and charge less.
If you reply trying to argue these points you are bias in denial and I'm not replying because you are already brainwashed. No amount of logic and facts will change your mind.
