Is a Samsung-made Nexus Prime coming in October?

19 August, 2011
With a 4.5" 720p SuperAMOLED screen, the Prime might turn out to be the rumored Samsung I9250.

kodn, 21 Aug 2011That does not really prove anything. There are lots of reas... moreDo you have proof? Do you have statistics that the public is bothered by Android's battery life? Have you ever thought that the general public outnumbers the businessmen by a wide margin?

Android is selling at a rate of 550,000 devices everyday and it won't be selling that much if people are bothered by its battery life. The battery life is good for a day or two. It is decent.

You are right that people choses Android for its overall better experience over Nokia phones as evident by Android's fast growth rate and the sharp decline of Nokia's marketshare. Nokia won't be on a decline if the public cares so much about a long battery life. Nokia is known to have long battery life but the greater public don't care about that.

The point is, the public prefers Android devices over Nokia phones. The numbers don't lie. Whatever battery life advantage Nokia has is negligible and immaterial to the public and the sales of Android devices proves it. The public cares about ease of use, the ui and user experience and a decent battery life that last a day or two is good enough for them.

The wise public all over the world votes with their wallets and they choses Android phones over Nokia's offerings. Now that's a fact.

The iPhone has always been about the user experience. Of course, tech specs play a role in this, but a secondary one. The philosophy is, if something operates smoothly, then it is irrelevant what the CPU speed is, because it is doing its job.

There are lots of reasons why Android is being chosen by people, but that does not mean that they are not bothered by Android's pathetic battery life. Maybe they prefer the smoother interface and excellent usability over the battery life, but wise businessmen who need to be connected all the time would think twice before getting an Android.

I have the Omnia HD (Symbian S60v5 using HX-V11 custom rom), Wave (Bada 2.01), Omnia 7 (WP7.5 Mango), Galaxy S (Gingerbread 2.3.3) and just recently purchased the Galaxy S 2 (standard firmware) overall Samsung is king as all the handsets work well but overall my favourite one to use is the oldest one of the lot the Omnia HD as battery life, WiFi, screen size is near the perfect balance but that is not to say that for example the Omnia 7 can't match it or Wave but overall that is the way it works for me, the worst one is the Galaxy S but that is probably due the file system that handset users.

Nokia's marketshare is continuing to dive sharply and that proves that people don't care about long battery life. They care about user experience and ui and Nokia is lacking on both.

And the smart smartphone user, doesn't even take advantage of these huge displays as they have to squeeze as much battery life out of them as possible, by dimming the screen, using black themes, and lowering the light timeouts.

if they both ran android, it would be a comparison, but they don't. iphone is a fantastic peice of hardware, but the ios is sooo restrictive in the tweaking and complex stuff you can make your phone do. for the standard consumer, iphone is a good fit, but for crazy tech nerds, i likes me some android openess.

4.5" screen? Faster Processor? I'd start buying up batteries now people. Unless this is going to be considerably thicker than the SGS2, due to battery size, I wouldn't bother.

Mobile phones screens should go no bigger than 4". Any more, and it's tablet territory, and looks stupid.
