You must have used some extraordinary phones. Even iphone4 & SGS have shortcomings, but let's concentrate on N8 as this is a Nokia Forum. A phone is not about camera I know but obviously it's good to know that you are carrying the best camera on phone.. Carl Zeiss, 12mp, wide angle & Xenon flash; what a combo. Okay lets keep aside camera.... Why don't we discuss other features like HDMI out, Dolby support, USB on the go, stylish yet hardy industrial design, bluetooth v3.... that too at a competitive price, but still you say this is "the worst phone you ever used". Wow,you are truly amazing.

AnonD-16342, 23 Aug 2011I think for small tasks as those, the Symbian browser does ... moreI haven't did much research on the Symbian browser on Belle. I'll wait to see more before I comment on how good it is. I generally use one of the Opera browser on my phone and occasionally use the stock browser for sites that Opera does not handle well. Opera Mini is my preference on my Android phone and was the one I used on my old N97. I occasionally use Opera Mobile as well.

To my knowledge, Opera Mobile supports Flash on Android phones, but did not on Symbian^3 the last time I checked which was many months ago.

Back on my old N97, I could not change the default browser. I suspect that you can on S^3 and beyond. That was one of the limitations on the N97 that even Opera Mini cannot remedy. I ended up opening the N97 browser automatically from various other apps which was frustrating since I had a better browser, but cannot use it sometimes.

I don't configure default browsers on my Android phone. I tend to use different ones depending on which web page I am jumping to from different apps. When I jump to a web page, I get to select which browser to use on my Android phone every time. I use Opera Mini most often, but sometimes I find it has performance issues and having the option to use Opera Mobile or stock is a nice feature.

Unless the Belle browser really blows me away, I would probably have the same setup if I used a Symbian Belle phone. I would hope that the Belle browser is much improved. I wasn't impressed with the N8 or E7 browsers, but that was late last year. I would hope that the new browser can open up Engadget well enough.

You know what? I prefer not to carry around a netbook with me where ever I go. A phone is a mobile unit and if I decide I want to surf the web, my phone is with me all the time where as my PC and tablet are at home. It's nice not having to wait until I get home first. For instance, if I'm out of the house and want to see what movies are playing near by, I can go to the web site on my phone and check instead of heading home first.

Rob, 23 Aug 2011Have you not watched any of the Symbian Belle videos? They... moreI had an updated post since my first one. Saw the Belle videos and was impressed.

Rotating home screens were rather annoying when I had my N97. Some people may like the feature, but I can do with out it. I never got around to finding out how to disable it.

FYI, I can rotate the homescreen on my HTC Desire Z phone. It rotates when I open the keyboard. I would make sense to do so with a keyboard slider since you are viewing it in landscape. Also, there is no need to configure all of your homescreen layouts in both landscape and portrait. When you rotate the home screen, everything keeps its relative position in landscape as well as portrait.

Is there a way to disable the home screen in Belle from rotating to landscape?

Rob, 23 Aug 2011Have you not watched any of the Symbian Belle videos? They... moreYou're not biased.

You have seen a video tut about how a new OS update works and base your conclusions on a pixelated youtube stream, and manage to conclude the Belle update gives you more than Android ever could because you can and I quote "rotate the homescreen".

Boy, now I have always been ACHING to do that, because what if I pick my phone out of my pocket horizontally! (Do appreciate the sarcasm please...)

IOW, if a rotatable homescreen is your basis to say Belle surpasses Android... you are no longer creditable.

I DID NOT buy the phone to be a game console. I don't care if other SGSII owners grill their phones, but I don't. What is a smart phone made for? Not quite for playing games.

And if you didn't get me I meant that I live in Finland and it's not constantly 28 degrees here.

Some users report that the phone gets burning hot while in pocket, but mine has never been like that.

I hope that you understand that people have different needs for a phone, and if you require durability, that's fine with me. I give credit for functionality and speed, so I chose SGSII. Ok?
