Carl Pei deletes "learn to love the notch" tweet after outcry from fans

29 March 2018
That didn't go over well. To be fair, it's easy to find someone on Twitter to complain about something, but it must have been more than a few someones.

They should replace their slogan of "Never Settle" into "Never Hate Notch" and change their phone name into Onenotch. "Onenotch to rules them all"

Vomiting troll from Oneplus ever.

I gave the phone with a notch a go few months ago and stopped thinking about it after few days! I rather have extra screen space (on both corners on the top) than full black bezel with dead space! All the haters will end up with a phone with notch anyway, if not this year, the next or the next, because this is where phones are going! Manufacturers knows this! Technology is not ready yet to completely remove the notch, and it probably won't be ready for a good few years so all those haters will change their mind which will be funny to say the least......

I don't really understand people's hatred for the notched design. If not the notch, you'll just have the same thing with edge to edge bezel. So why not accept the extra-screen? You can just tweak the phone to not use that area if you really don't like it, why decline something extra?!

So instead of having a notch, think of it as having the screen extended up so the notification bar can be remove.

I think they would just hide THE NOTCH with black bars

Always being mis-characterized; it's not a phone with part of the screen cut out, it's a phone with part of the bezel cut off. The alternative is a smaller screen in the same sized chassis/frame. A notch can simulate a bezel if desired, but a bezel cannot become screen. I find it absolutely stupefying us that so many people are campaigning for less screen.
