I was impressed when Sony did it but the video quality wasn't fantastic, having something slow down is actually quite pretty to look at but when the resolution is so low, it's quite painful to enjoy it. This is the one reason why i hardly use it, not because it's not useful but because quality is rather bad.

          BTW, there is nothing such is a thing called gimmick, yes, we can classify them into important to least important but nothing is gimmick and if we go that route, all the stuff we use are gimmicks for example, why you use your smartphone when you have a laptop or a desktop? why do you download and play games on your smartphone, when there are gaming platforms e.g. PlayStation, Xbox, PC games like ASUS predator etc, etc. Why do use your smartphone when the task of having phone is calling and SMS texts and yes you have to pay for them not the free you don't need free so why?

            You can record 960fps HD during 0.2s or 960fps Full HD during 0.1s. Then you playback 6s ( HD) or 3s ( Full HD).

            Since the phone has same imx400 of XZ Premium, there is no hardware change. So the hardware handles same amount of data.
            You increase resolution, time of recording gets shorter.

                Sony is the only that brings tech for the other division of the company to mobile. Samsung and LG dont...

                        It is hardware limitation. Even with DRAM inside the sensor, it cant handle more data.
                        Unless a new sensor comes with more ram inside.

                                    I didn't understand the idea.
                                    Aren't this settings linked? I mean, when the shutter speed decreases, the ISO does the opposite!?
                                    That's a strange behavior if it wasn't the case.

                                    That would be great yes, and they could also add a focus peaking option to their phones, that can be useful at times.

It requires double the amount of memory to record at 1080p, hence half the recording time
