      @mi6lethaltool...
      no one can beat android. u can see ios was most popular in us but now android. only copying the interface can not help.......open source rules man.
      hav u ever thought of apps in android......its about to cross ios in few days. i was a symbian user........but i dont believe on it now.
      the cheapest android can give competition to n8(except camera)......
      now due to open source i can customize my rom as per i need.....so manyfeatures better than symbian...anna....belle....canna....or delle......ha ...ha.....its copying the naming rule of android also....alphabetical...
      ok.......copy on...copy..on

        kudos NOKIA-- an abled IOS with the pliability of modern OSes without the battery strain-- you deserve a pat in the back and in the ass for copying but nevermind that we liked it.. i think i found the phone i will settle for a while..

                  With due respect to all the comments here, i just want to know if anyone can answer:

                  1. Whatever upgradation nokia does by way of OS, ie.symbian-Anna- Belle, will it ever have the thousands and lakhs of applications available on android and apple ios?

                  2. For all these years i have been a Nokia user, & i know the credentials of the company and reliability of its products, but i am in dilemma now to choose nokia handset or samsung galaxy s2. for a long time i had been waiting for nokia to come out an android similar os. But my genuine doubt on availibility of applications compared to androd and apple ios, looks very disappointing. I checked the applications by visiting Nokia.com, Please let me know if there are any hidden applications which only nokia users can see.

                  I would be really obliged if someone answer the above as i have to buy a phone on SOS, the current phone has lot of problems, thx

                      "resizable widgets"
                      --> On Maemo before Android
                      "flat menu"
                      --> On Maemo before Android
                      "pull-down notification area"
                      --> On Maemo before Android
                      And Maemo was developed with support from Nokia.

                              Flashed my N8 with Belle, i just have to say that its a beast! Very fast accurate and snappy OS way better than Android and with half the cpu needed, honestly is as fast and responsive as Ios but with all the goodies that no other OS can give unless is Symbian! Now I know why Elop didnt wanted the Belle to hit the road it makes W7 unnecessary only Meego can compare! Im honestly in love again more than ever with my N8!

                                  AnonD-3112, 24 Aug 2011Good to see Nokia going about things the Apple-way. I mean,... moreNokias biggest mistake was poo-ooing it earlier in the year, when it should have kept quiet. OVI Store had so many apps missing and now developers are moving away (the eastern market though seems to be still strong)
                                  Going from iphone to the N8 seemed like a mistake at first, as everything just wasn't THERE to access from the off, but I got used to it. Anna makes it much nicer.

                                  What I love about my N8 though is the support. Updates aside, Nokia Beta labs just seems to keep innovating and releasing new software. Every credit to those programmers.

                                    Good to see Nokia going about things the Apple-way. I mean, talking about updates, this is really something cool. I have a Galaxy 3 in my house which is outdated within 10 months. Whereas, my Nokia C7 was bought in Jan, which I got bored of by June. However, this Symbian Anna update "CHANGES EVERYTHING" and also brings up new features. Now this Belle update that's due, will "CHANGE EVERYTHING AGAIN". That's really good to know that the C7 which I bought in Jan is till date working great. I have a fresh new OS on it now. And I am excited to know that I will be getting updated in the future as well.
                                    However Android-ish Nokia may get, the good thing that's in their favour is customer satisfaction, and the Apple-like treatment. This is something Samsung would never give a damn about. They just throw new phones in the market, leave the old customers stuck with their stock UI & OS. I mean, not everyone here buys a new phone every 6 months!
                                    What's the point buying a new phone if it's gonna be history in mere 6-10months time.
                                    Kudos to Nokia & Apple for their efforts to keep their old customers updated with the latest stuff. Good going really.. :)
