5. I dont care about weight or thickness
6. Stock android or near Stock is ok
7. No gimmick like Phone nowadays

    If we really think about it, the only reason the Galaxy S9 isn't considered a gaming smartphone is because it doesn't have an over the top gaming design vibe to it. And that's it.

    The Galaxy S9 already have a dedicated Game Launcher which can drastically improve the gaming experience. Samsung's Game Launcher can disable the on screen navigation button so that you won't accidentally exit a game, offer a power saving mode that will lower the resolution and frame rate so you can continue on gaming even with low battery, can quickly take a screenshot without fumbling with the buttons, livestream and record your gaming and directly upload to your youtube channel, can boost your phone's performance for a smooth gaming experience, and most importantly, have a 'No Alert' mode so you won't get interrupted with call, messages, and notifications while playing games.

    Not to mention that some of these gaming smartphone doesn't even have some basic features like a microSD card slot and a headphone jack. So I vote for 'No'

      For me, yes. And the trend of bezelless phone will make it more acceptable, since gaming on bezelless phone is flvery painfull

        No, unless they offer more for less. a phone which entirely focused on gaming without gimmick (AI, dual cam, notch, bloatware). let's say, SD 845 w effective cooling. low latency, sharp screen. 6000mAH bat w QC. microSD slot. stereo Lspeaker w jack for < 400 buck

          Gaming phone will hard to compete in the market but

Desktops are for gamers who allow the self to play the real life game, and doesn't have that much time to game outside home. I preferred laptops when I had computer, because I wasn't limited. But since there aren't any good mmo anymore, I sold my computer and went gaming on the phone.

              I have voted yes, but my opinion is not as simple as that...
              Nokia used to have purpose focused phones much before anyone thought. So, N90 had good camera, in comparison, N91 had good music but not so good camera...
              Each phone had its focus/speciality.

              Now we can't play that game... Today, a phone has to be all rounder..

              So, high-gaming-capable phones will exist, but they will be all rounders.. But. They will be focused as flagships only...
              Probably, Samsung Galaxy S11 will have high refresh screen, cooling system, gaming modes, tv out, etc... But it won't be marketed as gaming phone.

                I think that the Xperia Play is the best concept for a gaming device. Maybe if a bundle would include the aforementioned dock and a large portable fast charging battery.

                Without a good marketing strategy and a lot of partnerships, gaming phones will die really quick. Even Razer is only aiming to get a little slice of the whole pie by using its already existing brand-image to capture as many customers as possible - and of course with a sleek and sort of gaming-looking design. They're playing it safe and it seems to work amongst their fans.

                  I think what define a phone as a "gaming" phone is their performance.

                  Not only peak performance, but the stability(i.e good cooling system).

                  And i think gaming phone sure will have a good future, but the market is niche.

                    There are hardly any good games on phones anymore, and the number of good games have been going down and down (try comparing Gangstar Rio - great game and the newest sequel, New Orleans - a pure shithole). And it becomes even worse when in most phone games you can hardly have much fun without paying plenty of real money.

                      Only if they put huge batteries in it. 5000 mah at least. They also need a greater camera. If those 2 options aren't able to fulfill, then make it like the ipod touch. No call options, only data.

                        Gaming phones certainly have a future. It's not really meant to compete with mobile gaming devices etc, but more for people who already enjoy smartphone mobile gaming. In which case, they are saying "Hey you like mobile gaming? This phone is the best for you".

                        Just like a gaming laptop might not sway a desktop gaming person, but rather caters to those who already game on laptops.

                          i think gaming phones wont have a future but future of gaming is on the phones, when the time will be right.

                            Without proper system and separate "game mode" and of course good battery. Nope

                            1. Android is just too ""heavy"", most of power of device go to just run it smooth. Its not really optimized for heavy task, its just made for running social and media apps and of course 10000 background google/OEM tasks that god know what they do...
                            2. It treat every application in the same way, so you cant set game to be priority in terms of power usage or even system apps in background(read: similar thing that OEMs do with benchmarks, if system detect it, cpu/gpu go full throttle)
                            3. Batteries on devices are really not efficient. For past years we had lots of new inventions and technology that make better batteries but OEMs dont want to invest in that because they are not cheap. For example there is really simple method to bump lithium-ion batteries life just by using few different materials, but cost of them are just to high when we talk about millions of devices and users that treat their devices like trash ad cant fallow simple rules of device care.
                            3. They could at least put laptop-like power distribution so when you have charger plugged it, phone use it as main source of power instead of butchering battery charging it and discharging it at the same time. Most of people who play heavy games, play them in home/near the charger anyway. And implementing it is not hard at all.
                            4. Controls = Touch screen is just HORRIBLE, you literally cover most of screen with finger when playing. Most of complex games have terrible controls and lack of ANY settings for sensitivity or at least support for gamepad.
                            Today phones are 6-8mm thick. Make it 9-10 and put controls or qwerty keyboard under the screen... we have 2018 we have new and better materials and methods to build sturdy construction like that.

                                  Gaming systems live and die by their software. There's no need for a "gaming phone" if there's no mobile game demanding one.

                                    Sony Xperia Play the best for me. Sliding controller button are most practical gaming smartphone. If Sony come out new specced phone like Xperia Play along with their new vibrator tech, FHD (no need 2k, performance will downgraded) 120hz screen, i'll buy it no doubt. Oh by the way i'm using Huawei's phone now. :p

                                        I'm guessing no since flagship phones are pretty much "gaming" phones already which renders dedicated gaming phones redundant.
