Shanti Dope, 20 Apr 2018And you are.......really sure about that, huh? When the ti... morei doubt sony mobile still exist by the time you earn enough money

Shanti Dope, 20 Apr 2018Oh, you may be different and are the others, but I certainl... moreNo, i am not one of the others. I know there is a discernible difference between 4k and 2k, just as there is a discernible difference between 2k and FHD. But the only real utility of 4k screens on smartphones is for VR. 4k content videos, while admittedly enjoyable, are neither commonplace nor necessary. Maybe if user interfaces, apps, and photos or images are included in the list of 4k content, then such a display would become more significant. Until that time, flagships don't need an additional battery hog.

This site's battery testing process isn't very reliable. And even if we use it, the xz premium has dismal video playback duration (half that of the s8) simply because 4k drains the battery like mad. And if its main selling point is that 4k screen, then you'll only be able to enjoy it very briefly on a single charge. Not worth it. And overall, it's 12 hours less than the rating of the s8 (which has a smaller battery), 16 hours less than the s8+ and 17 hours less than the note8. While you may have a point about the s9/s9+ battery lives, it's delusional to say that sony is doing any better in the battery department. Their last good phone in terms of amazing battery life while taking into consideration the screen and overall performance was the z3 compact (loved that phone).

Nop, ips Sony always destroy craploled pentile poor in subpixels

Imperator Neubaticus, 20 Apr 2018Sorry but 4k screens are as of the moment gimmicks outside ... moreOh, you may be different and are the others, but I certainly notice the difference between 4K and 2K even without using microscope.
The details of the main content themselves are more defined on the XZ Premium's screen than any other screens.
Obviously you won't notice too much difference when you're looking at the home screen, but try to consume a content that can make use of the screen quality, and that's where the differences will be seen.
In a way, 4K is meant to deliver better image clarity, and it certainly does make the difference.
But it's not to say that others are bad. They are still high quality, but for a 2018 giant flagship, a non-4K HDR screen is unacceptable, given others were able to do it before and became successful.

As for battery life, the XZ Premium gets a respectable 72h rating. Other 2017 flagships are even below that mark, while having less resolution screen.
Oreo just made the battery life of the phone even better.
If it gets tested with Oreo, I'm sure it will be over 80h.

And with the topic of battery life, your S9+ with 3500mAh battery and screen set to FHD+, only gets 86h rating. Against the XZ2 with 3180mah battery and FHD+ screen, that's horrible.
The larger screen I know, but the extra juice should make up for it.
And not just numbers. Many Exynos-powered S9 users are complaining a lot about the poor battery life of the phone.
Now you can go be a fanboy and say that they're using the phone so wrong, but the truth remains that Samsung messed up this year in battery life, while Sony keeps on improving in that aspect.

Arif238, 20 Apr 2018You are wrong about the display part samsung has way better... moreSame way, it doesn't make a screen better if it's OLED or IPS LCD, but by looking closely, the 4K HDR screen of the XZ Premium has far less problems than the 2K HDR screen of the S9+.

Anonymous, 20 Apr 2018hahaha and when they buy the XZ premium what will be differ... moreAnd you are.......really sure about that, huh?
When the time comes that I get enough money, I will buy this phone and enjoy every single part and capability of it.
Like I've said, that 4K HDR screen will remain a unique thing even in 2025 and beyond, just like how 1080p screens are still highly used today.

Well said but these gadgets made us so addicted where we cannot live with a basic smart phone.

Anonymous, 20 Apr 2018Still expensive! The price should be $349.99.They're not forcing you to buy. No need to worry.

Imperator Neubaticus, 20 Apr 2018Sorry but 4k screens are as of the moment gimmicks outside ... more4k hdr gimmick? Another fanboy when his brand adopted it, it'll be innovative. Where do you see tv's at 2k? Video 2k? None. There is 4k video recording and 4k hdr tv's, right? Beside that do you even know the other feature that XZP has? Such hypocrite.

People care a... moreSorry but 4k screens are as of the moment gimmicks outside of vr, and even vr is stale nowadays. And even when using the default 1080p reso, the xz premium's battery life was below those of 2017 flagships.

Also, lol who cares about 0.25" difference in the camera sensor size? I'll tell you. Blind fanatics in massive denial.

S9 is still best in display department and worse in software optimization/update.

Meanwhile, it has been at $519 from other sources for a couple months now.
