redmi 5A got 10% price up ($79) few days ago, then later meizu launch (m6) for $72 as very strong alternative
RN5Global sold for $180, then Asus launched Zenfone max pro (same SoC, lighter UI,better battery, worse cam, single band wifi, no hardware gyro) for $158

Customers tend to take the side of customer related benefits which Mi is promising to provide. But seems like it's you who is being benefited from the rise in price. Maybe you work for the Gov itself, the Anti-customer.

such a horse sh*t, anyways it's not available even in their retail store. I just bought a Haier 55'' led at 48K, and OMG even my father who is always stuck on Sony, currently 55" OLED was surprised at the clarity.

You honestly believe Indians would buy phones from Xiaomi if they keep the prices of phones on par with Apple or Samsung? Its pure business to disrupt market by providing bang on buck devices by Xiaomi. If Xiaomi thinks its unfair, go and ask them to protest against India on WTO. Unfair practises???Just because you said so.......rofl.

And that favor is called, Providing people better Quality tech at a reasonable price. None of the existing Indian OEM can do that. Mi was able to do it but Indian Gov wants to suck money from wherever they can. That's the same reason why fuel prices are rising even while Crude Oil got cheap

This will be beneficial for Xiaomi, its workers as well as the consumers, as there will be no import duty applied to the products manufactured locally.
That probably also explains why prices have increased for only two products, not all.

Classic India. Unable to produce a competitive product, they try to demoralize the market leaders by raising taxes

What's wrong with this rule ? It's absolutely fine as Indian govt wants to increase production of parts in India itself.
When likes of Samsung, OnePlus, Oppo etc are making PCBs in India, what is stopping Xiaomi from doing the same ? They are just making excuses.
It's the high taxes on imported goods which made possible that all manufacturers are doing assembly now in India. Now it's time they localize their parts sourcing too.

Xiaomi really sucks. Already we all got irritated because of stupid flash sale and pre order (still pre ordered on april 13th has not yet dispatched). Now increasing price definitely make us not to buy redmi note 5 pro. We all will go with asus zenfone max pro m1.
