Horrible trend. Of course, always the crap things are popular. If something is crap, it becomes popular, and the good things are unpopular, not appreciated. It's true for everything, for example smartphones, music, ...

xgman, 09 May 2018so either a bottom bar to replace the top bar with oddly pl... moreVery easy in theory: underscreen sensors/camera.

Hard in practice only because manufacturers haven't had much practice with underscreen components. It should not be much different than under-the-bezel components though, it would not need cutouts either given that oleds can be transparent these days (when off).

So the tech is here, the practice is not.

Once we have that *and* a shatter resistant material you'd see all phones to be 100% screen. And the next step is ... actually ... tablets. The best device ever existed, a bit of how they are protrayed in westworld. Phones than can be expanded in tablet form and then back in phone mode.

xgman, 09 May 2018so either a bottom bar to replace the top bar with oddly pl... moreTransparent OLED panels are rather, uh, transparent when they're not displaying anything. With a bit of ingenuity it's probably possible to place a half decent selfie cam behind that already today. The tricky part would be to make the cameras and other sensors equally "flush" with the rest of the the backplate when you don't use it. Combining polarised filters and a bit of smoke and mirrors ought to fix that.
I predict we'll already see phones this year with all sensors and a (mediocre) selfie cam behind a phone display.

so either a bottom bar to replace the top bar with oddly placed camera, etc, or a pop up camera and chin. Either way I think it is going to be hard to create the truly all screen phone without a pop up camera of some sort.

AnonD-744321, 08 May 2018way are you so sure about the notch?Sorry! I was too overhyped (and hated) the Notch these days.

The article haven't mentioned any notches, though it didn't mention how the bottom bezel will be implemented. What we know is that top and sides will be "bezelless". To know the rest we need the phone to be publicly launched, not just make our own speculations.

Silly question, as full screen literally means 100% screen. 100% = full.

So the Lenovo is stealing the Attention...

I have had the K3 Note and K4 Note. Now with the Mi Max 2, for the new offering, to go one up over Redmi note 5 they better have atleast 6" display with good width 78/80mm (narrow phs are passe), USB C, 3 card slots, min 4k mAhms battery, NFC, corner back camera location, Android Orio, SD635, adding splash coating & stereo speakers would be great bonuses!!

AnonD-674280, 08 May 2018Well the Lenovo S5 would have everything for me if 3 things... moreLove the fact that Lenovo finally got "USB C" on board!

Predicting that this one will be having a notched screen "cyclops" like the Essential Phone and having a Piezo-electric speaker like the Xiaomi Mi Mix.

Looks hundred times better than any notched phone. Good work Lenovo! Hopefully the Moto brand fill follow this design language too. Moto needs a overhaul to get back to business.
