      If Exynos is used:
ZTE might have to write kernel for the Exynos ? But Linux kernel already supports ARM. But that has to be taken as base and has to be custom tailored for Exynos and it has to take care of all components on SOC (CPU cores A73, A53, Mali gpu, modems, Bluetooth, DAC...)

Rest is same. Only QA has to run their test suites to make sure everything is fine.

But writing kernel is a daunting task !!!

Mikey, 18 May 2018Very good. Please tell us how isolationism is working for ... moreSo according to you Trump specifically said ZTE should be banned? Last time I heard it was a courts order, nothing to do with the govt a.k.a Trump and his administration. Get your facts right before blaming anyone. The only one to be blamed here is ZTE for unethical practices, no one else.

Anonymous, 18 May 2018It doesn't matter if they did or not, that's not the point.... moreThe sanctions have very little to do with the treatment of citizens, they are about stifling the nuclear ambitions of USA's enemies.

They ignored an embargo, it's all ZTE upper-management fault.

Anonymous, 18 May 2018Good. Trump should protect American interests, not Chinese!... moreVery good. Please tell us how isolationism is working for North Korea's economy.

Even though it IS a Chinese company they obviously rely on American companies for components. American companies that they're not paying now. American companies who no longer have a need for paying their AMERICAN employees.

The only way to succeed is to be part of the the global economy.

I'm also highly concerned about how this whole mess has unraveled on the US side of things. Trump and his cronies were so anti-ZTE, now he's suddenly backing up on that. How much of his money does his son-in-law have tied up in the company?

The thing is they need sanctions imposed on them due to the way these countries are treating their people. If they opress their people and treat them like cattle, they get shut down from the rest of the world until they come clean again. It's only fair.

You can't have a bad government and also be allowed the same benefits as those countries that have a good government.

Maybe is the time for the world to see more alternatives to the android and ios. Sailfish is one of them. None is talking about this alternative. IOS copied some swipe gestures from sailfish on its iphone x. It is much linghter than android and doesn't need so much hardware resorces. It's not perfect but hey neither andoid is.
About chipsets it's not a big deal. Beeing a light os it can run on any othet chip: mtk, exynos, kirin ...
Of course it will be some hard times for ZTE to follow these path but I think that there are some willing to try new things outside the android and ios world domination.
