I know that it is nice to have a new set with the best performing system loaded with future, but on the other hand, do those updates not come too frequently? I do not want to change my handset every few months. So delayed release may be good news for all the froyo owners who want to keep their sets. Not to mention environment.
Keep the rare earth in earth while we use froyo.

It's the mobile service provider like AT&T, Verizon, Rogers, Telus, etc that decides to provide updates to devices locked to their service. People who purchase their phones unlocked usually get the new updates.

Funny that you mention it... no OS is close to perfect. But users can say Android is better than competing OS depending on their experiences with each. You're talking as if there are no iOS users bashing Android, no Symbian users bashing Android, no WP7 users bashing Android... They all bash each other. About time you realize that.
By the way, you shouldn't confuse the two words: best and perfect. While perfect devices are the best, the best device is not necessarily perfect.

don't anyone of you know that even if Google has an update, its up to the phone provider(HTC, Samsung etc) that wishes to provide you the update and whether your hardware is suitable for it.

Goth Music, 12 Sep 2011Nokia new Symbian Belle is probably the most stable OS and ... moreI had a Nokia N97 on Symbian before getting the HTC Desire Z on Android. As far as I can tell, the battery life are very similar on both of these phone.

I am now hswitching from Android to Nokia 701 that will be released in october. The battery time on my android makes it almost worthless as the battery just dies after 5-6 hours. It is not cceptable.

I dou... moreI already used in 3 devices on EVO CDMA one U8220 and one Desire CDMA and If you think is 99.9% bug free...buddy I don't know what drug are you using but gimme some :P because even with their funny names of bravo, supersonic an more BS...They have so many bugs inside that Beetlejuice guy will be happy to eat one of those phones...
I found from little bugs to a major ones...in fact in EVO they had to make very frequent updates since every time the fill a hole appear two more. I was using phones from 1995 so I don't found over all those years something 99.9% good or perfect..not even close.
They aren't perfect, in fact I like more the work of XDA than these guys, I already collaborate with them to "find" errors, BUT I still like more the ORIGINAL version of the OS than cooked ones, once I find some malicious app in one (with XDA) and they banned me some time just because I find something that was not for my eyes LoL. Anyway this open my eyes in no trust in cooked ROMS anyone...call me paranoid but I handle very valuable info that I don't like been traced or followed by hidden Trojans in my apps. Like the ones I found.

I don't like to be cheated by Google with the promise of every update will be better than the last one.
Besides that Android is a good OS but users have been over-valuated too much. Trying to convince people is the Messiahs of the OS and It's far of be perfect, and Google is far of be a "friendly" company.

I doubt he even tested cyanogenmod(99% Bugs FREE) so he doesnt kno how AWESOME/FUN it is compared to iOS so it cant be helped =D

Op... moreAre you trying to tell Android users that they are not enjoying their devices? You can list all that, but they still enjoy their devices. Especially the users that participate in the forums that know how to work their phones have made the decision to pick up an Android over other OS weighing the pros and cons. Are you trying to convince me that I'm not enjoying my Android device because of the disadvantages that you listed which, by the way, do not affect me at all?
It's funny, because quite often I laugh at my brother frustrated with his iPhone 4 while same task is a breeze on my Android device. Now that my friend, is a real life win.

Nothing personally bu... moreU cant update android phones as easily as a iphone and unlike iphone u cant update a 3 year old phone with latest os..with android phones manufacturers dont gv u the update so that u are forced to buy a new mobile coz u cant apps that are coming for te new os...thats why only 30% of the android users have gingerbread after almost a year..yes there are other ways to update ur android but its ur loss coz u payd $500 for ur android device but the manufacturer isnt giving u what u r supposed to get for free..this way 2 to 3 month old phones become useless for u and lose their resale value..but with the iphone u get the latest update even for a 3 year old phone..like 3gs is getting ios 5.

Open Source not means everything is OPEN or FREE, is just there is no license for that, but this not implicates Software runs good on modified OS, since you don't know what kind of software they install in the custom OS.
But this even a child know it, and Android has a long problem of malicious software...and you will never know what kind of "goodies" will have your beloved "custom ROM' LOL..
I have a lost of LoLs in people like you that believes Open Source are the solution and isn't is just a good excuse to modify something for good or bad...
That's why iOS and WP7 runs so smoothly, they are tested and handled just by them and has been not manipulated by any other source..
Oh by the way CyanogenMod is an AFTERMARKET...duh AFTERMARKET, please is not official, is just for someone that wan to run something....oh for get it, I will not waste my time teaching you what is modded, aftermarket and explain what is malicious software :P

I use Android I use an Atrix 4G but ... moremay be you are on 2.2,but i have a defy and im using 2.3 cm7 on it,why cant we think about the custom roms to get updates..??
if google is not giving any updates then are you happy with up to 2.3 GB? its good thing that we are getting new updates unlike symbian or ios(think every new ios need new handsets to run) they are like tortoise,giving slow updates and convincing people as on latest os version
here the problem is not with the google and how they handling updates its all about manufactures,if they ready to give new updates to older devices all would become happier,,but they are taking the advantage of frequent updates to sell devices..so custom roms are the better way to keep happy with older devices
