AnonD-21641, 11 Sep 2011You sir are talking complete RUBBISH or even worse....do u ... moreOh yeah?? Where? The official page isn't exist that!!!

I don't count modded firmware or hacked firmwares or forced firmwares because ISN'T the real Google Update...are just some "FORCED" updates of people that feel happy running Firmwares from unknown sources or just a bunch of techno people making some "cooked firmwares" for unhappy people that can't update their phones with official ones...

My respects to XDA, Symbian Universe, Symbian Latino and others but they know you are the only hope for desperate people that can't install an ORIGINAL FIRMWARE just because Google, Nokia, WP/WM among others don't support any more those "old" devices..

So, any probe there is any OFFICIAL UPDATE for MB220?? Did you hit TMobile official page and found the Last Firmware?? PLEAS do your homework and don't leet Google leads you with pimp search results....

Because cooked firmware DON'T COUNT AS OFFICIAL...AND THE LAST OFFICIAL FIRMWARE was from TMobile and Google and that was Android 2.1, so you are the one that need to make your homework, because you are the one that is impressed with "abnormal firmwares"....

Another funny thing is , I personally think this is all the hype made by phone manufacturers....
          For example:
When SE Xperia X10 was launched, it was Android 1.6, and it was told it was upgradable to 2.1.
Suddenly after 2.1, they said, that it is now upgradable to 2.3.. how is that??? How can you upgrade a phone which was declared that it could handle 2.1 to 2.3. That means, tomorrow dont be surprised if they upgrade to 3.1.....
So this all some bullsh*t, made by Android community, so that they can see more devices....which otherwise, people wouldn't have bought....

AnonD-4697, 11 Sep 2011More disappointing is the fact old WP7 can be updated to Ma... moreBecause that is the marketing strategy....
People who are using Android, will buy another handset of Android, which is often a new one, because the old one cannot run the new software.... so the sales of the handsets will increase....
This way, you can sell more devices, and increase the market share on paper....

Other manufacturers dont do it.... for example, Apple as you mentioned... and also Nokia... my N8 when I got is last year end, was running symbian 3 v1.1, then we got a major update as 1.2, then got the Symbian Anna, and now will be getting the Belle soon... but everytime the new OS is loaded, the phone runs faster and better, on the same hardware....

More disappointing is the fact old WP7 can be updated to Mango like HTC Surround, Samsung Focus among others!!!

And for example Samsung Focus/Surround are 1 year old phones and Microsoft will bring new life to those phones, now the d evaluated WP7 phones will gain more resale value and users will be happy of getting one of those since WP7 is not too demanding on hardware.

why Google don't do the same with older phones???

-You don't have to buy a new phone to be up to date
-Final version would mean that no more updates anymore
-The good thing would be when everybody would start updating more frequently not less, and it doesn't necessary mean it's a fat update, it could be performance or UI update...
-Phones would be much cheaper when there would be more than 2 or 3 players (Android, iOS, Windows Phone)
-We are all consumers, not fanboys which is exactly what companies want (not rational buyer, but emotionally bound to the name, logo, CEO, etc...)

And Motorola Cliq MB220 can't even go up from 2.1

Both phones was released almost at same time 2009, June, 2009, September in fact 3GS was released first and that 3GS can still be updated, BUT MB can't.

Android is way more demanding in hardware than iOS. I don't know what's the big idea but is plain wrong force to people to change a phone every time they want to release a new fix.

I remember when Android born their slogan was "This OS can run in anything" and they specify even the most "humble" phone can run that OS. And that was not true.

And the stagnation of Android begins here.

Expect Windows mobile to overtake it within the next two years.

This is some kind wrong, I like the way technology are BUT is not right keeping the beast "full" and Android is doing that, make every time a more fat version, that's why older device don't have any chance to run newer updates. This is normal, no one want to have a 5 years old phone, but with Android every time there is a fix the manufacturers launch a more powerful phone.

Even iOS, Symbian, BlackBerry and WP7 don't need major phones to work flawless, they just do it for the hype of better hardware, but their OS can run on a 1 GHz smooth.
