Shanti Dope, 22 May 2018Nah. If blacks are all you need in a screen, then you real... more...so thats why top products are OLEDs? As they are most close to reality, be it for black being black, or colors that are true? Sure lcd can do well and got a bit different feeling to it, but in the end leds are closer to reality... Can just hope that someone will create ones with broader color spectrum so you can get that feeling as with lcd(if its not done already). Also there is more than one led tech, surely is one to your taste...

"The next flagship of the Taiwanese company will indeed have a 18:9 screen with no notch"

I used to like HTC, But after reading that paragraph I think I love the brand now :)

Shanti Dope, 22 May 2018Nah. If blacks are all you need in a screen, then you real... moremicroLED is really good, and it is currently used by Apple Watches. The only problem is that it takes time to make more because the pattern is more complicated than OLED.
Yes, LCD is still a champ for all of my needs. :)

xXENDER FREAKXx, 22 May 2018Glad to see HTC keeping their liquid design from the HTC U1... moreThis phone really has copied designs but that liquid glass finish is just jaw dropping. I hope they would lower it after months of release. Otherwise, Super LCD is not my type for this price.

HTC is dead (unfortunately). Huge bezels, chunky, LCD panel...
Consumers want sleek design and HTC again failed to deliver it.

At least... a flagship phone without notch!

                        expensive af !
i'm not surprise if htc going back to their poor financial performance at year end 2018. they should know by now that they are NOT apple or samsung to get away with that premium pricing. just go die peacefully htc.

                        sincerely from,
                        one of your fan.

Glad to see HTC keeping their liquid design from the HTC U11 without the presence of a notch (Having a notch is fine, but it wouldn't match their smartphones well), but the cameras can be a little more rounded to resemble their high-end flagships predecessors, because it looks a little like a LG V30 from behind. And also the price, it is a little to expensive, I agree that brands want to be competitive, but since HTC is dangerously alive, yeah, "dangerously alive" because of how their company is losing profit year after year, they should have priced it lower at around OnePlus 6's price, that would be a comeback for HTC thanks to their camera and other aspects of their smartphones which are better than OnePlus 6 (One of the aspects that I like about HTC other than the camera is the audio, it is one of the best out there)

EnthusiastK, 22 May 2018hahaha... my friend, why are you mad that I hate LCDs? I us... moreNah.
If blacks are all you need in a screen, then you really don't know what makes a great screen.
Screen visibility is still superior on LCDs due to higher peak brightness. Go check the G7 ThinQ, with it next to the iPhone X, Galaxy S9+, and Huawei P20 Pro and tell me if others are even as visible as the former.
Black levels are one of the most overrated crap in displays. On OLEDs, blacks are so deep, you actually loose information in the shadows and dark parts of the content. This is never a problem with IPS LCDs, and I'd trade slightly worse blacks for way better whites and RGB colors, which I'd definitely use more.
Sure, you can calibrate OLEDs to more natural levels, but they still can't reach the same level of the natural colors of IPS LCDs.
Talking about screen flickering, many are already experiencing headaches when using their screens at night in the lowest brightness settings.
Infinite contrast ratio is true, but the difference isn't as huge as like a thousand or 2 to infinity. In reality, the difference is large, but not as much as numbers tell you.
How about sharpness? I heard the Diamond PenTile matrix makes texts look fuzzy, as opposed to clear and sharp rendition of RGB matrix from IPS LCDs.

Anyway, I don't really have to argue about this one since I could basically pick microLED over these two anyday, and will blow them out of the water, but to say that OLED is better and IPS LCDs don't have any advantage is a complete bs.
I get it that you prefer OLED, but you have to know that IPS LCD is still good and better than OLED in some ways like manufacturing price, longevity, vulnerability to burn ins, etc.

Where is the u12 without PLUS?

HTC and Nokia seem to be using new LCD which in the latter case according to forums are the best seen. One of Nokia's matched Oled and without burn in. I currently use a great HTC with Oled but now completely open to the new LCD for longevity and naturalness.
