The new mobile chipset is available to phone makers now with phones coming in Q2 this year.

Xiaomi will use this first 700 series SoC. Ummmm...
Redmi series, Mi Max series, or next Mi A series?

stivi737, 24 May 2018well.. a phone detects if it is being run under a benchmark... moreActually your concept is wrong.
System does detects a benchmark app and it provides the maximum performance to score better which is not happens in general day to day use unless you are doing something extremely intensive.
If a SoC throttles then it will also throttle in benchmark apps and you will notice major drop in the score. Throttling mostly happens because of overheating and if CPU overheats too much no matter what benchmark app you run you will find huge performance drop. Check the performance drop of HTC M9 powered by SD 810 for better understanding.

Shanti Dope, 24 May 2018"it doesn't throttle at all." Wow, that's scary..... A CP... moreHey, first see what I replied to.
Throttling means heavy performance drop not the minor drop in score. The person I replied to was saying that it throttles so much that is performance becomes similar to SD660.
When I said that is was not throttling in the benchmark apps and the score was consistence that doesn't mean exactly the same there was 40-50 point drop in the benchmark score after repetitive test that doesn't mean it was throttling.Do you even understand the meaning of throttling, what it means major performance drop like what happens in SD 810. Don't give a lecture on physics that any work done produces heat as a loss of energy everyone understands that who completed their school. Understand the reference about why I said what I said.

No new 4xx and 2xx? Great. No need for new junk. Just keep using older, capable SoCs like SD626. Brace yourselves for more SD62x and SD63x

The OEM just want you to buy their flagship and processors like sd660 only cut the flagship sales.

Basically, QSD 630/625 become obsolete to be called Mid-Range. We'll see them the new budget smartphone range that costs you around $200.
QSD 4xx series will be left behind for a while.

AR and AI - more fancy label "features" from Silicon Valley that nobody asked or wanted. Greedy tech companies really starting loosing touch with the consumers!

Snapdragon should stop manufacturing 400series chipset.
600 series will be the new budget
                    700 middle
                    800 top end.

                      Wow, that's scary.....
A CPU that doesn't heat up at all?
As far as I know, even 10nm and 7nm chipsets still have the tendency to throttle a bit and get a performance reduction.
Though we have improved over the last 3 years from the insane overheating CPUs like the SnapDragon 810, we obviously didn't become truly immune to it.
Well, there's no such CPU that doesn't throttle AT ALL, because any CPU that is in work would produce heat and have some performance drop (depends, a lot of drop when the heating is high and minor drop if the heating isn't that much) no matter how much you want to deny that fact.

Anonymous, 24 May 2018But Kirin 960 GPU throttles more, so should be about the same :DWell that is highly unlikely because if Kirin 960 has throttling issues then it should also throttle in Benchmark apps but the score remains the same even after repetition. For throttling issues I can confirm, it doesn't throttles at all.
