If people buy phones because of the marketing and are happy with their phones why it's sad and what's the problem?
Do you really think android phones or any big brand can sell their products without advertising, that's why they pay big money for advertising companys to make their products to look best what they can.
I just don't understand your point.

Apple is very late to the party. Iphone 5 will be dual core, however the first dual core phones were announced back in December 2010. A year later Dec 2011 the first Quad-Core smartphones might debut. If so iphone 5 would be obsolete in 2 months.

I never have understood for example android phone ads, of course they are good for android tech users because they only list specs so all the tech people drools watching them.
IF you watch iPhone or iPad commercial you see very BIG difference, those commercials don't sell specs, they sell what you can do with those specs, its very big difference. Apple ads are emotional, people close, warm etc. When you see apple ad there's catch what you are going to remember. Android phone ads are very hard to remember, because there's isn't anything what goes to your head.
There's much much more potential customers who are just normal users and not tech people.
Still i think bigger reason for iPhone big success is more and more happy customers, like i said words spread. More happy users means more customers. They are not buying brand they are bying phone which someone recommended. Just like you want to buy samsung TV because you friend has it and say it's very good TV (by the way it is).

Now to the topic..this is a very big threat to app.es competitors because they couldn keep up with iphones sales when it was only on at&t now iphone 5 will be on at&t verizon sprint orange if all these operators sell the iphone at once they are going to eat up te smartphone market in 1 day...

Im very surprised by most of the comments on this post..few months back gsmarena and some other tech sites wrote about a survey which showed that most iphone buyers are well aware of what they can do with the iphone..i dont know how these guys like ashura and all come up with these ideas about people buying it for the logo and what not...it only shows how insecure and unhappy these android users are with their device...

When i bought my iPhone it was my first Apple device ever, before that all my phone was nokia phones including one sonyericsson. i Still don't have any else apple device (maybe buying iPad someday don't know or win 8 tablet). My camera is canon, my computer is intel, my computer screen is samsung etc. i Like all of those. Why it's any difference having apple device, i just don't get it. Why Apple users always need to explain to haters why they bought it?

Do you guys really think Apple would won customer satisfaction by far sixth times a row with crappy or shitty phone. If you think that you are lying to yourself or beeing denial.
Try one someday and you know why we are most satisfacted customers ;) Don't compare phones only with speclists! it's only half of the story.
Also because of the satisfied iPhone and iPad users Mac sales has increased too when pc market struggles. Good user experience spread to other devices too :)
